80s certainly. But I'd say they got more in common with Suburban Lawns, Y-Pants or The Fibanoccis than Pussy Galore. It's sort of a funky fusion of Dancepunk and New Wave with a dash of playful weirdness.

Addendum: Just realized there's another band from NYC with that name. They seem to fit the bill (listed as Garage Punk, Noise Rock, Punk Blues). This however is the belgian outfit by that name.

Has anyone ever heard TOTAL SLACKER? I think they're from New Jersey. They have an album in particular called SLIP AWAY which I can't stop spinning.

But this song might be my favorite:

I vaguely remember the name of this band but I'm not sure I've heard their music before. I like this song though. Thanks.

"ORIGINAL SEALED COPIES of this intense synth weirdo LP from 1981..Strange mix of dark synth and Classical Japanese melodies...contains insert. From back cover notes: "I do not want to play music which sounds as if it comes from familiar instruments, music which is based on chord patterns, or music which fits nicely within any particular stereotyped tradition... What I want is the terrifying, the menacing, the cruel, the chaotic, the darkly exciting, the ecstatic, the irrational -- music that resounds between the cells and in the intergalactic voids..." --Slava Ranko. Nuff said there really... if you are into fucked up synth records you NEED to own this. He was also the producer for FACTRIX and TUXEDOMOON if that means anything to ya... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!" - Aaron Dilloway.

80s tunes. I was listening to The Human League, maybe I'll listen to some Gary Numan.

I swear that riff is as classic as, say, "Sweet Jane." And the woman's vocal hook? Brilliant.

The album SLIP AWAY is great, and they have a few other quality singles. (One album called PARALELLS didn't really grab me.) Not sure why they aren't more widely recognized. Maybe they're just lazy.
