Our school's motto is "pride, respect, responsibility", and so they've named the three pairs of study tables each of those. In addition to hammering out the rules ("don't be social here", "only four at a time", "don't be noisy"), they've got a quote.

The one that's behind me is quoting Vince Lombardi, who I've got nothing against. But the Thatcher one was too egregious to ignore (and vaguely personal; my ex is a Northerner so she's been directly affected by Thatcherism).

I'm waiting to see what detention I get for it :p

lombardi might have been a successful coach but he was also a dysfunctional maniac

maybe don’t take lessons from him....

workaholism is socially approved but it’s still a disease... see: the downfall of charlie rose.

Always curious how far North Mardi Gras is celebrated??
Even in Lake Charles, school is out for Fat Tuesday and Ash Wednesday, but I heard this isn’t the case in Shreveport.

Well I'm here as a tourist so I'm in new Orleans.

It's been an incredible first week of seeing stuff I'd never have done as a usual tourist. When I was last here I met a girl here and we hung out and kept in touch. She said to come back for Mardi gras if I get chance and here I am. However, I'm starting to feel like we're (me and two other friends who came) getting under their feet a little bit so I suspect we'll get an Airbnb for the last few days of the holiday to give them space and the like.

Haha nah she knew I was bringing them and we'd spoken about it beforehand. Emphasis being that it was a big house and the more the merrier.

Wouldn't be so rude as to just turn up with extra people! :D

Edit:and to be clear she did actually meet one of the two last October when she was in sunny England on holiday.

heureux gros mardi = Happy Fat Tuesday!

WOW - a week in New Orleans, I’ve never done that.

We love the crescent city and plan to return in April. Port Of Call is a favorite restaurant of ours. All they do is steaks, burgers and baked potatoes. They also have one of the best drinks in New Orleans: Neptune’s Monsoon

Located in a old house in the Esplanade, it’s away from the hustle of The Quarter.

Take and share a few pictures, SYG would like to see’em!

Laissez les bons temps rouler!!!

Same back you, man. Got such a mental day ahead but my body is ready. I'll try and post some pictures up when I get back. I've done and seen some crazy stuff I'd never have done if it hadn't had been for knowing locals here

instead of Mardi Gras, we celebrate Carnaval. In a small nearby town the parade turned into a big foam party due to an oversized washing machine gone mad :D

_tunic_ 02.25.2020 06:31 PM

most people look extremely dumb in their carnaval outfit, there are some exceptions
(these are from my hometown, stolen from the local newspaper)

the statue is not a costume

I guess this is the Prince Carnaval for this year

Can’t wait to hear all about it!

0404 Wednesday morning on Bourbon St.

h8kurdt 02.26.2020 09:59 AM

We actually didn't do any of the big parade or bourbon street and the ljke. There was a much smaller one that anyone could be a part of. It was in an area where all the freaks, queers, and general out there people lived so it was kinda fitting. I took some mushrooms and had a bit of a rough time on the parade. I was actually close to ditching and going to bed to hide. However, there was my version of a space coyote on the parade turning up every now and then to guide us. A super fat happy dog with a neckerchief around him. He helped massively :D

After that we went to the pier to level out a bit. As we were walking there we got talking to a woman who was with a group and big self made float in the shape of a giant ass. They were all bar workers and a close friend of theirs named Jerky Jenny had died last year and now they were going to the pier to shoot her ashes out the ass. We stuck around for a while to see that happen. A guy said the most beautiful eulogy that had me bawling and then the ashes shot out. Of course the ashes flew back in our faces but y'know what? I took it as a blessing. We'd never met this woman but there was something beautiful about that.

After that it was some good food, some Molly (I decided the mushrooms weren't the best thing to dabble into again after that morning) drinking and then much dancing on a busy street corner where everyone congregated. For the most part I just wanted to get naked and have a massive threesome with the other two I was with. Alas, it didn't happen. We came close but nah.

A bizarre day with an absolute rollercoaster of emotions.
