!@#$%! 04.03.2020 08:28 AM

unemployment hit 4.4% in march, april outlook to be published in a week

Employment Situation Summary
Transmission of material in this news release is embargoed until USDL-20-0521
8:30 a.m. (EDT) Friday, April 3, 2020

Technical information:
Household data: cpsinfo@bls.gov * www.bls.gov/cps
Establishment data: cesinfo@bls.gov * www.bls.gov/ces

Media contact: (202) 691-5902 * PressOffice@bls.gov

THE EMPLOYMENT SITUATION -- MARCH 2020

Total nonfarm payroll employment fell by 701,000 in March, and the unemployment
rate rose to 4.4 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.
The changes in these measures reflect the effects of the coronavirus (COVID-19)
and efforts to contain it. Employment in leisure and hospitality fell by 459,000,
mainly in food services and drinking places. Notable declines also occurred in
health care and social assistance, professional and business services, retail
trade, and construction.

This news release presents statistics from two monthly surveys. The household
survey measures labor force status, including unemployment, by demographic
characteristics. The establishment survey measures nonfarm employment, hours,
and earnings by industry. Note that the March survey reference periods for both
surveys predated many coronavirus-related business and school closures that
occurred in the second half of the month. For more information about the concepts
and statistical methodology used in these two surveys, see the Technical Note.

Anyone who thinks the Democrat party is in disarray should have a look at the leaked emails and whatsapp posts from the labour Party, where ...

Chief of staff Karie Murphy was described as “medusa”, a “crazy woman” and a “bitch face cow” who would “make a good dartboard”

A staff member who cheered one of Corbyn's speeches "should be shot"

Corbyn described as “that fucking Trot” who deserved “to be taken out and shot.”

Pro-Corbyn activists described as having "mental health issues" to which another official replied: “I hope [name of activist redacted] dies in a fire”. A third said: “That’s a very bad wish [name redacted]. But if he does I wouldn’t piss on him to put him out.” To which a second official then added: “Wish there was a petrol can emoji”.

Describing Labour MPs who nominated Corbyn as “morons”; tweeting twice that Corbyn was a “traitor”; describing “Corbynistas” as racist; telling an SNP MP that he should “Come down to Peckham and try saying that, mate”; calling Corbyn a “Putin-hugging, terrorist-loving, Trident-hater”

That a speech by Corbyn in response to the Manchester terrorist attack "won’t go down as badly as it deserves to"

That, despite being “shit”, Tory MP Iain Duncan Smith was “better than most of our shadow cabinet”

Also on Corbyn, “Massive elephant in the room that we all kind of hate him”

a senior official described another member of the party as “pube head” and "a smelly cow"

Diane Abbott described as "truly repulsive"

Suggestions that that some staffers may have “failed to act on extreme cases of anti-Semitism in order to undermine the Labour Party as led by Jeremy Corbyn.”

And these are just some of the ones that've been leaked so far.

No one knows. Sounds like someone internal but the Party's working to try and identify who.

OLYMPUS QUITS CAMERA BUSINESS AFTER 84 YEARS

dammit.

i almost bought one of their M4/3 cameras a few years ago. got a panny instead, but still, their macro lens was a holy grail.

see: https://www.getolympus.com/us/en/len...2-8-macro.html

not sure why this makes me a bit sad, but it does.

Yes, that's sad. I'm an Olympus shooter and own three micro 4/3 cameras and one 4/3, plus several of their lenses. All of excellent quality, no matter what Jared Polin and people like him say.

demonrail666 07.04.2020 12:36 PM

I have an old Olympus Trip, which is still a great camera, but the company itself never really gained a foothold in the big pro-end DSLR market comparable with Nikon's, Sony's or Canon's, so they ended up mainly focusing on small point-and-shooters which (as good as they are) inevitably saw them competing with smartphones, a battle they were never gonna win.

Olympus or Panasonic never got smart with mirrorless products. The revolution full frame capability brought to this smaller format eluded them and has been used to their best advantage by a company like Sony, which introduced so many innovations to it even Canon and Nikon have had to keep up with.

panasonic is still strong in video though, their codecs have always been good, so that keeps them as viable contenders in the long run even if they were to ditch m43.

do you think m43 will go away altogether though?

fuji makes beautiful aps-c cameras but the company seems more fragile to me with their narrow focus and they are in the same space as sony in terms of format.

Fat, white, lesbian The Black Madonna has removed black from her name to appease fickle sjw internet lords. Just like Animal Collective earlier this month retrospectively changing album covers and title's we can all agree they can now be officially classed as African and are vital cocks in the wheel of BLM oppression fighters.

Meanwhile, perennial sexist Beyonce 'you're just a boy' Knowles releases Black is King and no-one bats an eyelid thus paving the way for a possible Country Teasers' White is King album. Fingers crossed.

Meanwhile, false endings in songs?! what's all that about?

h8kurdt 07.20.2020 12:41 PM

Fingers crossed that Beck releases an album titled, ‘White As Rice,’ and it beats out, black is king, for album of the year : )

A fade-out false ending! even worse. I find these fake interludes to be manipulative, pertaining a lack of natural emotion; If a song needs a fake ending then it is ultimately shit (and relying on a tired trope in a hope to convey meaning that the song has previously failed to conjure). When bands do the whole false ending crescendo thing live it is similarly used but more-so in a way to whip up the general society-is-delinquent crowd in to a 'we must shout at this part' as opposed to a conversation in the studio about 'how do we make this shit song good'. Maybe I should stop thinking about important topics and join in with current mental breakdown trends and proceed to burn my Country Teaser records to appease the woke overlords running the internet. Speaking of racists you should be burning your Elvis record too since he was the original pillager of the Black community. I know my history because It was written in a Public Enemy song.

Animal Collective save the Black race, in the nick of time

führer, Little Britain has been banned by the BBC for portraying racial stereotypes and that utter sad wank stain of a man Leigh Francis has apologised and removed Bo Selecta from streaming services due to his portrayal of black celebrities like Michael Jackson. It's as if context does not exist anymore and we are all going to end up being whitewashed in to toeing the line. Or we just turn the TV off and log off the internet.

At this point Beck should be apologising for his white man rap pillaging and for beating a black woman to the Grammy.

During the Viennese mayoral and district elections today, the Social Democrats were able to secure a landslide victory, reaching around 42% of the total vote. The conservative People's Party was only able to reach just below 19% of the popular vote. Both of the official far-right parties (there's a case to be made that the People's Party sneakily slipped into that territory as well) have lost a significant amount of the electorate amidst a plethora of scandals and in-fighting, trailing behind in the single digits each.

I've voted for the Social Democrats for the first time in ages. While I'm not completely averse to them, certain sectors within their party have pursued corporate or opportunist interests that didn't quite jive with the overall left-leaning/socially-oriented image they've been meaning to project and maintain. That has steered me towards smaller left-leaning parties with more progressive agendas in the past. I've seen certain fractions of the party push some progressive agendas in the last few months though and was a bit frustrated with some of the choices the Green Party (not to be compared with their American equivalent, they are quite different) made once they entered into a coalition with the conservatives (still a weird, quite fraught partnership), so it was a tough decision this time. The only other feasable option would have been a party so small, they don't really have a prayer of having much say.

Anyway: Long story short - Even though it was a tough call this time, I'm really happy with the results. It shows that my town stuck to its guns and didn't give in to the saber rattling and bad faith arguments of reactionaries seeking to use these tough times to their advantage. The People's Party didn't really do themselves any favor by relying on the old specter of blaming the capital city for all of the country's woes on their nationwide platform. But the openly real far-right parties were gaining uncomfortable momentum throughout the last few years. To see them lose this spectacularly is cathartic to say the least. And today's vote reflected the Viennese people's frustration with their constant bullshit. At least some good news in times such as these.

Roughly 10.000 people took to the streets to march against the Lockdown and Covid-measures in general in Vienna yesterday. Many of those idiots were of course not wearing masks and there was virtually no distance between them. Several arrests based on different crimes and misdemeanors have been made. Among them were violations of the Covid-regulations and measures, resisting authority, attempted assault etc. According to local news, one of the speakers told the crowd to "throw that rag away already" - referring to masks. Present among the mob were former head of the far right party FPÖ (Freedom Party Austria), Heinz Christian Strache, as well as several known Neonazis like the founder of the former banned party VAPO, Gottfried Küssel. Also according to local reports, special ire was directed towards members of the media - several of whom were both verbally and physically attacked by the mob.

This is exactly the result of the aggressive stupidity I've been observing for months now. It was brooding away, contributing to a weirdly uncomfortable atmosphere that was tangible. And now it's really coming to a fore. A lot of this reminds me of the scenes we've seen play out in Washington D.C. - maybe not quite on such a massive scale, but of those incidents are tantrums of similar international monsters that have been allowed to fester in recent history. I'm so fucking done with the stupidity of mankind right now.

As a matter of fact, it's just great that Austrians closed the borders to Slovakia.

_tunic_ 01.18.2021 06:48 AM

There was also a protest in Amsterdam, with 2000 people, and also not keeping distance and not wearing masks. And they didn't have permission to protest where they were protesting. So police stopped them and arrested over 140 people.
Several people were interviewed on TV, and of course there were the vloggers, the brainless influencers, who were only there to vlog. Yeah right. But another one of them was a homeopathic doctor, who said among other that doctors "fake everything and get 20.000 euro for every patient", and that people are getting killed with vaccines.

Meanwhile, we'll likely get a curfew in a few days, similar to other countries like France, to curb down especially the British type of Covid.

Bloody Brits, first Brexit and now you've giving us a more contagious Corona variant :fuckyou::D

but here's the good news!! We've discovered a new method for vaccinating!! You no longer have to vaccinate one person at a time, just put them in front of this truck for a minute or two and you can do hundreds at a time!
