(She's in A) Bad Mood
100% or Kool Thing on TV about 5 years ago then I stole my cousin's Dirty and Daydream Nation when I saw them in his cd rack. I didn't start bumming them though until about a year ago, I was too much into Nirvana from the age of 5 to 14

Titanium Expose in Pump up the Volume.
Empty Page and Plastic Sun were the first.
But my first favorite song was either Flower or Drunken Butterfly. (And ironically enough I don't have Murray Street or Bad Moon Rising.) |
ask me again.
I think the first one I ever heard was Sugar Kane.
really first was 100% on MTV and i thought music and video rocks big time, but i was too young to care more and didn't check them out. but then dirty boots (i mean whole goo) in the college, that was my moment.

Tunic

teenage riot. got a copy of daydream nation off a classmates older brother in 1989 or so. loved it but loved track 2 even more!

She's in a Bad Mood, as I had only read about them until I bought the reissue of Confusion Is Sex in 1995.

I was exposed to them back in 94 or 95, whenever they were doing lollapalooza and it was on mtv. The first song I remember hearing of theirs was sunday which was much later. I don't really remember the first song.
First song I don't remember but I know it was Dirty, a punk friend of mine when I was fourteen bought it and presented it to me.
First SY record I bought was Goo some years later, then swapt it for Dirty with my punk buddie. Then in '94 I bought my own copy of Goo back from him, somewhat later Washing Machine and Psychic Hearts came out and shit was all over then. '96 my first Sonic gig and the rest is history! |

I think it was Halloween / Flower 12". If it wasn't that it was DV69.
sugar kane on mtv. i was 14 and have loved them ever since.
Dirty Boots, I think. That or Kool Thing. But I remember thinking Dirty Boots was about the coolest thing I'd ever heard, and I fell madly in love with that grunge chic in the video.
First song I heard was live but I don't know what it was.
On record: Intro/Brave Men Run |
Dropped the needle on EVOL,Tom Violence.I was hooked....
I bougth Goo, without having heard anything by them. So Dirty Boots was the first.
Well, I don't know if it was the first song that I heard by them, but the first song that definitely made me sit up and take notice was their cover of "Superstar." At first I thought that only Thurston fronted the band, but then upon further investigation I heard a couple Kim and Lee songs. They weren't a band that I fell hard for immediately however. I can honestly say I had never heard anyone like them before, and I was no stranger to alt rock. Now, I can't get enough of them. I love all of their stuff from the debut EP to Sonic Nurse, with Washing Machine being my fave album. Rather Ripped is ok too I guess. :(

the first Sonic Youth song i ever listened to was Teenage Riot.
I bought 'Screaming fields of sonic love' when i was 13 and used to listen to Teenage Riot Candle Cotton Crown Star Power over and over and over and over again, and they are still my favourite sonic youth songs ever! |

the first song i consciously remember actually hearing was i'm insane i think. my mom used to listen to bad moon rising all the time (we can get into that later if you want) and it came on and i remember that it scared the shit out of me.

Dirty Boots
100% Was this song popular in those days? I mean a hit for Mtv? I loved the skateboarding scenes because these guys were playing with long lanky objects all over outdoor public places. But I don't think it was a big hit. Except around here.
