Beggars Bowel is amazing, I loved it right off. It's especially amazing when you're standing directly in front of Ash Bowie, like 6ft. away.
They opened with a sickening performance of Enemy Insects when I saw them. I've seen so many bands over the years, all the great Indie bands of the 90's in a little laundromat , the Samhain reunion tour, Blur at a little dive. Polvo is the best show I ever saw. |

Nice list... Out of the 92-96 shows, are there any TAL, Exploded Drawing, etc songs that didn't stick around? Generally their tours always stuck to a fairly common setlist. I'm wondering if there is any rarity to those years since that's the era of live shows I've heard least of.

When I talked to Steve Popson at the Berlin show this August, he said the new album was either out this October or sometime next spring (!). Since it's already October now, I guess spring is it it is is it.
|
If you could share 6/15/96 and 7/19/96 I'll be your best friend and bake you cookies.
Do you have any shows where they did Sure Shot, Time Isn't On My Side, The Curtain Remembers, or Gemini Cusp? Never heard those ones live... Thanks bro. ~Jeremy~ |

That implies it's probably finished but Merge is waiting for a better time to release it, I suspect... ~Jeremy~ |

- Those don't ring a bell so I'm guessing no. |
Thanks man, take your time. Well worth the wait I'd imagine.

Thanks a million! Downloading now.
On a different note, I talked to Bob Weston last night about the Polvo records he did, and he said he loved the music but they were strange to work with, so sure of what they wanted yet had no idea how to get it. It was interesting to hear. ~Jeremy~ |
Is there supposed to be only two tracks on the 7/19 show?
Thanks again. ~Jeremy~ |

Hah. Makes sense. When I looked at that, I assumed you had the full show and not the two songs listed. I'm listening to the 6/15 show and it's incredible, thank you.
Any chance when you have time I can get 7/11/96, 5/07/93 (For Gemini Cusp!) and maybe 6/21/93? Sorry for all the requests, it's just so cool to hear all these live ones I've never heard before. Have you ever thought of uploading some of the best ones to Dimeadozen? Thanks again. ~Jeremy~ |

That would be great! There is a severe shortage of Polvo shows on there, let alone that one 1998 show (Which, let's be honest, was not the best live period for them). I'm sure many would enjoy being able to hear some of these shows.

I shall listen to them exclusively this weekend. Like Thinking Fellers, I enjoy some of their guitar vocabulary, but their songs never quite resonated with me on the whole... maybe that'll change.
|
I never got too into Thinking Fellers aside from some stuff here and there. People compare them to Polvo all the time, but to me Polvo put more emphasis on the creation rather than the experimental nature, which Thinking Fellers did. Huge difference.
Rappard, you're the man. Loving that June 1996 show... already listened to it twice today. Thanks! |
I will try to get some of your request, and more up tomorrow. I suck at uploading.
If you go to the 80's to 90's pages of the bootleg thread, I uploaded a few shows for rappard. I checked two days ago and they still worked. |
Oh rappard, your 8-2011 is incredible. They sound in best form since New Dark Age.

Jeremy, were you able to dig anything up from the past "bootleg thread" pages? If you still need a bunch of stuff, I can mail you DVDR's with a bunch of shows, If it's okay with rappard??? He's done lots of detective work to get these awesome shows. I have too.

So when does the new album come out?
I didn't like In Prism @ first, but seeing them live made me really appreciate it. |

Yeah, some of it I had floating around on a different comp, but not all of it, so thanks! In particular I lost some of the things you two had posted a while ago, like their return Cat's Cradle show. The new album *should* come out in Spring, hopefully before then. Apparently it's done and ready to go. ~Jeremy~ |
According to Mitch Easter, the new album is finished. I'm assuming Merge will put it out within this first quarter of the year.
|
they better!
i've been jonesing for it since the 7" they put out i also like TFUL282, but it's true they aint the same and why is it M.O.A.S. is their worst album? |
|
New album is out Oct 1st
|
Siberia is fairly solid. Water Wheel and Light, Raking are up there with some of their finest and the other two Ash songs are decent, but Dave's songs fall really flat, with Ancient Grains being probably the worst Polvo song.
Better than Shapes, not as nearly as good as In Prism. |
Pretty disappointed with the new album, nowhere near as good as In Prism.
Some tracks sound way to close to something I'd expect to hear on classic rock radio. |
