yeah i was struggling with my 10th choice and was skeptical of putting black flag in mainly because i wasn't sure about the 25 year thing...jeez it's hard to find a good 10th one

other bands from reading the lists here--Cat Power (not really a band)....Yo La Tengo--like them but not my favorites...same with Ida...and I forgot Windy & Carl.

In no particular order: NNCK, SY, NWA, PE, Diamanda Galas (She is American, right?), Le Tigre, Prince, Madonna, Michael Jackson (if he scrapes in).

I should note two things: This was hard, because I don't really like that much American stuff; I'm including people I think are most important for music in general (hence no Justin Timberlake or Laura Cantrell, although I love them both dearly).

You should check out The New Year (that's the name the Kadane brothers are using now)...they also did the soundtrack to the documentary "Hell House," which is a must see.

i defintely dont think how good they are is left up to the individual. that stuff can be proven even if its with some relative difficulty. Sonic Youth doesnt have the full package?! yeah, maybe not the marketing package because of Nirvana's frontman as you put it, but I am convinced that Sonic Youth can satisfy any criteria we throw at them to define the greatest band. As far as the Pixies curt cobain openly admitted nevermind was his failed attempt to write a pixies song. I think definitely their most innovative album was Bleach but hmm, I wonder where they picked up on that dirgy sound that became known as grunge. yes, it would be The Melvins. not saying curt ripped them off but he did use their pioneering into sludge as a springboard for grunge.

well i just thought it would be a little more fun and perhaps a bit easier.

this post proves exactly why nirvana doesn't deserve to be in any list (unless it's personal taste)

i think they should definitely be in the top 20

and maybe i'm wrong to keep them out of the top ten but i just havent figured out who to bump off my list.

Discussing Top Ten American Bands of the last 25 years and Second Favorite Dead Milkman albums on a Sonic Youth message board aren't really narrow or bizarre interests. Sure they are SPECIFIC questions, but the interest isn't really the second favorite album itself, but rather the Dead Milkman....which isn't too narrow and or bizarre for a Sonic Youth message board.

Asking about the preparation of squash (most likely because he hadn't prepared it before and was looking for suggestions) isn't indicative of an interest at all, but rather, indicative of a request for suggestions.

I don't know if you've ever met someone with asperger's, but an indicator would have been if he had talked about different varieties of squash, the history of squash, and social anecdotes involving squash without ever having been prompted. He would not have asked a question, and if he did, it would have only been to open up the floor so that he, himself could discuss his rare knowledge about squash.

The poster hasn't showed any kind of social impairment of any type, but rather the opposite, asking questions that seem to be enjoyed by people here on this message board and opening a dialogue to get to know us. This is the exact opposite of how someone with asperger's would act.

It's for these reasons that I have a feeling that you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about w/r/t asperger's.
