I never sing along to anything. Music I listen to is usually sang in foreign language, and the finnish music I listen to, can't be sang along.

I might dance to something though... But it looks like I'm having spasms. I usually leave that to night clubs so I can blame the drunken state (and make myself look like a complete fool).

Cantankerous 07.28.2006 01:53 PM

m-m-m-my, my, mahheeaaaheeaaheeaahhy WOO!

Glice 07.28.2006 02:17 PM

Cradle of Filth, Yngwie Malmsteen, The Great Kat, Dragon Force.

I really like Mis-teeq, Sugababes, the Carpenters, Abba, SClub7, Steps, Take That and the like, but I'm more embarassed about my absurd metal liking. Pop I defend to the ends of the earth.

Hip Priest 07.28.2006 02:19 PM

Liking the Sugababes (especially Keisha) isn't a matter of confession. It's a sign of good taste.

sonicl 07.28.2006 02:24 PM

^^
Here here re Sugababes. Although they did turn out to be a bit disappointing live. Too many ballads and not enough grooving. Not as much fun as Atomic Kitten, or S Club 7, who I went to see with my niece.

I want to see Girls Aloud next.

jon boy 07.28.2006 02:25 PM

i think that the sugababes and destiny's child have never done a bad song.

Yes, I enjoy Dragon Force. I am obviously quite mentally unsound, and play their guitar solos in a cummerbund and my mother's terrycloth nightie.

I simply don't know what to say to that.

Here's something that should scare the hell out of you hipsters : I enjoy Abba more than Nirvana.

* You may throw stones at me *

Cantankerous 07.28.2006 02:50 PM

Abba is just thuper!

Wow. Interrupting your pedophilic fantasies - you flatter me.

Don't be jealous. I'm sure Glice will take care of you too.

Glice 07.28.2006 03:15 PM

I miss when my hover message said, "Glice has toungues lining up for a rim-fest". That was the best.

Come one, come all. As it were.

Come to think of it, I don't think that one is fabricated.

i read a good defense for liking absurd metal the other day

an interview with this chap, Wrest, from Leviathan, in Maelstrom Zine

Wrest: I love Celtic Frost. All the "heyyy!" I love that shit.

Maelstrom: Yeah, you can hear a lot of it.

Wrest: It's silly, but in that silliness, it's completely honest. And that's something that attracts me to metal. Everyone goes: "Oh, metal: the fuckin' dumb loner who's into his computer, or playing video games," or whatever. But I identify with that way more than I do with some bowl haircut, tight pants Nigel kid. [Metal]'s not hip. And I love it.

Maelstrom: I agree. That's what I like about metal too. I don't know about you, but I'm like one of the least hip people that I know, and it's perfectly fine with me.

Wrest: Yeah, but finding girls that are into it is kinda hard.

Oh yeah, there's definitely a lot of space lately for metal dynamics to be a lot more 'experimental' (within a narrow, pop context) than indie is at present... I think metal now is where indie was in the 80's: SY, J&MC type stuff.

There's still a lot of gack out there, and I don't think I'll ever get RATM, but the Doom thing is largely outstanding.

nomadicfollower 07.28.2006 06:04 PM

The Shins. Chutes To Narrow gets me everytime. Sugary pop, yum.

Toilet & Bowels 07.28.2006 06:05 PM

i think black metal is way more exciting at the moment than doom, i mean it's a genre practically hand crafted by and for retards, misanthropes, nutcases & weirdigans. what more could you ask for?

golden child 07.28.2006 06:39 PM

rage against the machine

acousticrock87 07.28.2006 07:05 PM

Train, Goo Goo Dolls, Bryan Adams. Stuff like that. I'm not ashamed.

Hip Priest 07.28.2006 07:08 PM

I spend way too much time with my head in a cloud of smugness to bother noticing what the rest of the world likes, but I have recently been called 'sad' for liking the Sugababes, Creedence, sea shanties and trad jazz.

Toilet & Bowels 07.28.2006 07:09 PM

train.... bloody hell, i haven't heard of them in a long while.
an aside, my sister met bryan adams and said he's a real sleazy old man, and he kept cracking on to her.

acousticrock87 07.28.2006 07:12 PM

Ya the Bryan Adams thing was actually cause of my ex-girlfriend. I always kind of got that impression of him from live recordings and stuff, but Everything I Do was "our song" and he does some nice bluesy stuff, too.

Savage Clone 07.28.2006 07:12 PM

I love, for completely un-ironic reasons, not just one, but three Moody Blues LPs.

Пятхъдесят Шест 07.28.2006 07:18 PM

Peter, Paul, and Mary. My mom used to listen to them when I younger, and the songs have sort of stuck with me. Timeless lessons in those lyrics. Right, whatever.

On a related note, I almost put a PP&M song on my Mix Tape. Ahaa.

Cantankerous 07.28.2006 08:07 PM

Puff! The Magic Dragon!

I heartily aprove of all of the above. I would like to hear more sea shanties, and suggest you should YSI some herewith.

Savage Clone 07.29.2006 09:03 AM

Sea Chanties don't even begin to approach the field of "confessional material," matey.

Yo I'm a HUGE Shins fan. Ya shouldn't be ashamed of your good taste ! James Mercer rules.

And last night the text above came to reality once again. We danced for hours straight to all the 90's horrendous techno shit at worst fucking jock redneck nightclub the town has to offer. I'm embarassed but nevertheless, I'm a better being than the avarage people who go to that place on a frequent basis.
