Tick tock! I'm bringing two people that have NEVER seen them before. I'm praying for Pink Steam becuz it's a favorite amongst us. |
well today is our turn to rock. Fortune for us the Wilbur was built as a Music Hall so we shouldn't have any of the problems that last nights crowd was stewing about. Feelies to start it off not sure how I'm going to wait another 9 hours to show time. Mezzanine row D seats 103 and 104 if anyone wants to stop buy. Can't believe how physced I am. I'll really blow a gasket if they play NYC Ghosts & Flowers but then again Last time I went I was hopping for Cross the Breeze which they did play but that night it was Shaking Hell that blew me away.

Yup tonight's the night! I'm right next to you Chicka. Row D 105, 106, 107, and 108. Bringing two SY virgins. I think it's actually going to blow us away. Even though I've known about this show for weeks it feels like it's going swoop down out of nowhere and kill us. |
Waiting for the show to start... I can see the setlist on the stage-
No way Sacred trickster Calming the snake Stereo Sanctity Walking blue Anti orgasm Leaky tugboat Shadow of a doubt Antenna Malibu gas station Poison arrow Tom violence Massage history Sprawl Cross the breeze What we know Death valley 69 |
great show tonight...was definitely psyched to hear all the stuff post-"Poison Arrow"
|
Great show!!! What a sick encore!

Pretty good show last night. I thought a bit to heavy on the Eternal stuff early. Crowd wanted to have fun but me and the guy with the beard kept getting yelled at by the security for moshing. I thought that was lame. Maybe they will lighten up tonight. No Kim dancing, but great encore. P.S merchandise is the same. Except no Boston poster I was hoping for. |
we were told there was going to be a poster, but no one ever showed up with one for us to sell. awesome show even if i had to watch/listen to it from behind the merch table! looking forward to tonight!

hey, if i had known you were behind the table i would have introduced myself last night. have fun tonight! |
total last minute gig! i stupidly forgot to buy a ticket for last night. then a friend's friend needed merch workers so i hopped on. if your there tonight come say hello!

turned out that i had an extra ticket i couldn't use (got comped one when i wasn't expecting it) and it went to waste. oh well. nah, not heading out tonight...gotta work on the photos from over the weekend (Times New Viking the night before). |
Tonight was also great! The crowd was a little rude though... or maybe it was just the one guy who elbowed me!

nice to see lee getting 3 in a set again! how were the meat puppets?
|

Meat Puppets were pretty solid. A nice surprise. I've heard of them before but dint think I knew any of thier songs. It turned out that I knew 4 songs. Bass guy is classic. He looks like he could have originally been in Charlie Mansons cult. Nice show. But Sundays night setlist was better. I ended up getting copies of the setlist and Kims guitar pic BOTH nights. SCORE! |

heroin is some nasty shit. |
bummer! i thought i was going to get comped one via matador records for some stuff we have done with them in the past at work. but it didn't pan out. i actually had a couple people come up the first night and offer us free tix at the merch table. i was like what am i going to do with them now??? haha
i liked last night's set more but it could of been the inclusion of schizophrenia! meat puppets were good given the large amount of stuff off II and up on the sun. cold cave wasn't totally my bag with all the synths but it was good ... Quote:

Dam. I just read Meat puppets story on wiki. I wish i did it before last nights show. I could become hooked by them. Solid! |
What a show. The sound was fantastic. You could here the vocals every bit as well as the guitars. Enjoyed the addition of a full time bass player which left to play more ryuthm and some lead. Everybody was point on from the minute they hit the stage till they left. I was off right from the get-go but the first song that got me out of my seat was Antenna. Most amazing thing was History of the Message the last minute or so as they let the guitars just wined down you could have heard a pin drop not one person in the place was making a peep. Because of the sound and their playing be dead on it was the best show I've seen by them. Maybe not the best playlist but the rest of it spot on even the lights were simple but effective and enhancing.

Sound on the floor was different. Vocals not clear most the time. But I guess you cant have your cake and eat it too. I was there both nights front center, but maybe I should of sat in mezz 1 of those nights. Next time. |

Don't know which night you went. I went Monday night, and had the same experience with the pin drop thing. It was especially transcendant on "Shadow of a Doubt". It was beautifully done. |
What a great show.... Drove down from Montreal to see their Sunday show, and it was worth every penny! My first Sonic Youth show, and it was everything I expected. Loud, the sound was fantastic, the feel was great... I had GA tickets.
Too bad I can't drive down to NY for their next show... For those of you that were there on the Sunday, what did you think of the feelies? I wasn't too impressed. |

the guy doing sound for The Feelies hated it: http://srforums.prosoundweb.com/inde...g/51347/0/0/0/ btw, i thought The Feelies were great. if you like that sort of music, you will dig it (jittery guitar riffs). they sounded just as good as in the early 90s. |
I went to the second night with the pups and it was a great show. Meat Puppets come off as more psychedelic live and sound tighter than they ever had before. SY played a raucous set with personal favs Antenna, anti-orgasm and walkin bue (more lee please). After hearing Massage the History live I know appreciate it more than I ever did on the record. The nods back to Evol were cool but as i look at the previous night's setlist with Cross the breeze, the sprawl and death valley 69! goddamn man i should have bought tix for both shows!
Are there any copies of either of the show from Boston floating around yet? |
quite possiby the best show of my entire life!!
