Holy fucking shit yah, i got my tickets and am totally going!

pinkstation 08.19.2009 12:55 PM

im not too pleased with a lot of recent dionsaur setlists. SO SIMILAIR and nothing much of green mind.

but alas, they are one of my favorite bands, and a completely kickass live act, and i have tickets to see them in october

SuperCreep 08.19.2009 01:01 PM

yeah, they usually always play the same staples, but whatever. They do indeed kick ass live. I just wish they'd do more stuff off of Bug. I saw that they did No Bones at SXSW this past March and thought that maybe J was comfortable playing Bug material, but looking at recent setlists, I guess not.

pinkstation 08.19.2009 01:04 PM

i completely agree. i think they barely play any bug stuff because it was made at a time when tension between lou and j was at its highest, and now that they are playing together they probably don't want to relive that anymore than they have to.

replacements75 08.19.2009 04:16 PM

Awesome I too just got tickets!!!

kaitlynmazur 08.20.2009 01:01 AM

woah i just found out they were on pre sale now! i'm getting mine tomorrow morning. but there's no signed seating right? and if there's not is there seats at all or is it just standing?

amerikangod 08.20.2009 02:30 AM

Tickets have been purchased.

I'd say I was down for meeting up with board people in the off chance that I ended up taking one of you home, but I'll be attending the show with real-life friends, and real-life friends and the internet don't mix without terrible embarrassment.

That said, if I recognize any of you and you're way hot in real life, I will definitely try to sleep with you. So ladies, shave your legs and vaginas in preparation and shift your menstrual cycle so it doesn't conflict with that day. I don't want to hear any excuses.

I might wind up in a similar position...

youthcr 08.20.2009 08:51 AM

Which? Embarrassed by the internet, or taking a boardie home with you? Are you a hot lady? If so, I'll go home with you. It would also be acceptable if you were a hot super-effeminate dude and I'm wasted and you trick me. But the former is preferable.

amyvega 08.22.2009 09:20 PM

i'm with magic wheel memory - the venue does kinda suck. you can't see shit unless you're in front or in the balcony (while that may be true about a lot of venues, the fact that the sound isn't great just makes it even worse)
and it is kinda far, especially from downtown. i always end up at columbus circle and walk over, which is a bit of a hike.

either way, my jaded ass will be there

Your jaded ass better be joining us for din-din, too! ;)

BushIsAPsycho 08.23.2009 09:36 PM

well i thought i might've been able to score backstage passes for this "fantasy-come-true" gig, but alas I might have to join all y'all losers in loserville (not backstage) anyway, I live in Mass. and was thinking about going to the Boston show but then Dino is playing in NY and it would be cool to make the trek i think

silverfreepress (sdasher) 08.24.2009 11:40 AM

Where will the next show be? (the one being announced tmmrw)

jennthebenn 08.24.2009 12:29 PM

BALTIMORE.

(Since I typed it in caps lock, it will come true.)

BushIsAPsycho 08.24.2009 04:32 PM

next show announced tomorrow? as in 12 midnite? I think I know where it might be and I think I can even walk to the venue from my house, perhaps? fingers crossed.

I can only pray.

If that happens, I will shit my pants.

Thurston's previous cancellation was devastating.

BushIsAPsycho 08.24.2009 07:05 PM

so 4 more hours to go and then we get the news?

diamondsea 08.24.2009 07:17 PM

[quote=SuperCreep]yeah, they usually always play the same staples, but whatever. They do indeed kick ass live.

I went to see Dinosaur jr in Oxford last week. They were excellent and indeed they played six new songs from the last lp Farm. By the way, I was at Zenith in Paris three years ago. Dinosaur jr opened for Sonic Youth. They were truly great of course, but they just played seven songs. Very very loud anyway...

silverfreepress (sdasher) 08.24.2009 08:28 PM

i'm guessing the show will be at the Calvin Theatre/North Hampton.

BushIsAPsycho 08.24.2009 08:39 PM

well if it's in Northampton, I hope it's not at the John M. Greene Hall. The acoustics there are @#$%#%

not to offend, but they sounded like shit when they played there, something about the building or something, not really a flaw on the band's part I'm sure!

The Calvin would be a swell venue IMO

BushIsAPsycho 08.24.2009 10:01 PM

didn't mean to sound so harsh in my last post, it's just one's opinion i guess

anyways got a really fucking annoying phone call from someone at my old graduate school about student loans and need some good news to cheer me up. the peanut butter and fluff isn't doing it on full effect tonight for some reason

so 1 more hour until info about new sonic youth show?

EvdWee 08.25.2009 03:26 AM

london it is

squirrel_bait 08.26.2009 11:01 AM

I have my tickets - woooo! I've heard nothing but bad things about Terminal 5 but hopefully it isn't as bad as everyone says. There's still plenty of time for a venue change. Now to find a hotel room...

Moshe 08.29.2009 11:17 AM

cold cave added to the nyc line up.

jennthebenn 08.29.2009 01:00 PM

WIN! they were real good at No Fun this year.

Georgekrz 08.30.2009 02:25 AM

this vid is of NIN from terminal 5. I think the bar has been set pretty high, the crowd at this show was pretty fucking amazing (fast forward to 4 minute mark if you're bored) and btw so was the sound, the drop off at the end of the clip is caused by my stupid finger covering the mic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0I57s0EcyM

I've been to three shows in Terminal 5, all of which had fantastic sound.

All i can say is that this how better have a good setlist. Electric Factory's setlist sucked dick. It was Basically The Eternal + 1/6 Daydream Nation + Catholic Block

but still!

Where was dirty, goo, washing machine, a thousand leaves, rather ripped... hell, even experimental jet set??

jennthebenn 09.01.2009 05:16 PM

That's not the kind of live band they are. They're about the new stuff.

silverfreepress (sdasher) 09.01.2009 09:32 PM

the show is sold out

yeah, i didn't buy in time... anyone want to sell a single ticket for a decent price? I'll pay $50, i just don't want to get ripped off...

silverfreepress (sdasher) 09.02.2009 08:28 AM

Like most concerts there will be rereleases, keep checking online or stop by the Mercury on Houston St, avoiding service fees.
