leaky lifeboat

deflinus 06.14.2009 11:54 AM

wha? people don't like leaky lifeboat? i was hooked as soon as i heard it

jennthebenn 06.14.2009 12:02 PM

"Leaky Lifeboat" is one of my favorites on there. The harmonics at the
beginning and end, the dual vocals, the fact it's dedicated to a great fucking
poet...

dual vocals is a thing, also beginning reminds of swings - that's awesome when music is like kinda physical process! i also like when steve decides how to drum in the end.

demonrail666 06.14.2009 12:30 PM

I don't really hate it, I'd just say it's the one I like the least, alongside Thunderclap (which I prefer musically but don't like in terms of vocals/lyrics).

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 06.14.2009 02:01 PM

I think all the songs are good on the Eternal, so this is a hard one, but I'll vote for No Way just because it's the least fresh sounding.

I agree with Jen and you, this is one of the best songs on there. I love when kim goes, lalalala la la, fucking great

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to jennthebenn again.

toxic johnny 06.14.2009 02:38 PM

I don't dislike Leaky Lifeboat... it's just the one that I like least on the album.

haha. I knew it was going to be a winner when I first heard the teaser.

I'm shocked that it's getting this many votes.

Antagon 06.14.2009 03:09 PM

Leaky Lifeboat is frickin' awesome! In my opinion it's one of the best songs on the album.

My vote goes to Sacred Trickster

Dead-Air 06.14.2009 03:11 PM

I'm going to go with "Antenna" though I like the song. I at least like them all though.

mil_pl 06.14.2009 03:27 PM

fuck you all, is all I can say :p

greedrex 06.14.2009 03:36 PM

fuck fuck fuck

GrungeMonkey 06.14.2009 03:39 PM

calming the snake

nancykitten 06.14.2009 06:15 PM

Antenna.

I don't dislike it but it's my least favourite.

EVOLghost 06.14.2009 07:55 PM

Antenna is one of my faves! Doesn't exactly sound like SY but I friggin' love it.

Dead-Air 06.14.2009 07:59 PM

I totally want to recall my choice, but then I don't know what I'd put in it's place. That said, I don't honestly think any of the songs on this album will be among my ALL TIME FAVORITES, but they're all really solid rock tunes with great guitar noises. This album should have been the follow up to Nurse, because it really is like Sonic Youth bursting free from the layered stuff they did with O' Rourke (which I love entirely on a different level) and letting it rock hard.

noisereductions 06.14.2009 08:10 PM

"No Way" is my least favorite. But it's marginal. THe album is brilliant.

SYRFox 06.15.2009 02:35 AM

Antenna

duderanchnurse 06.15.2009 11:26 AM

thunderclap

i assume winner will be massage the history...

atari 2600 06.15.2009 03:57 PM

No Way

Because I do wanna know who gets the highest score. heh

In general, this is a fairly weak album for Thurston. His songwriting and playing are all just kinda blah throughout. Some of his singing is nice, some not so much.

Antenna, however, is grand.

I don't know who wrote each song, but T's Antenna and Lee's Walkin' Blue are among some of their finest songs to date.

JohnEsmoke 06.15.2009 05:37 PM

It's sad to say but there are a lot of song that I don't like at all on this eternal stuff. But, the least of the least are "malibu gas station" "thunderclap" and this horrible "leaky lifeboat".

Magic Wheel Memory 06.15.2009 09:09 PM

For me, Thunderclap would be the first to go.

I also can't understand why Leaky Lifeboat is getting so much dis. It's a fun, snappy little tune that doesn't immediately sound like anything they've done before. Some of the other tunes on this record are really good, but are reminiscent of previous work.

Magic Wheel Memory 06.15.2009 09:10 PM

I think part of my dislike of Thunderclap is that I know it's about Darby Crash, and the feel of that song has nothing in common with my image of him. Maybe that shouldn't matter, but it does.

SuperCreep 06.15.2009 09:36 PM

some of y'allz crazy, srsly.
