If the skin is dead and you weren't responsible for killing it, you'd be a ghoul
|
every bit of the outer layer of your skin is dead.
|
what a humbling thought
|
what is humbling to me is that we humans shed from 4-8 ounces of hair and skin cells every single day. that is about 105 POUNDS a year.
|
you could make a new human out of that.
ew. (i just imagined what it would look like) |
you sweep it up every week. 90% of our household dust is dead skin cells. the other 10% is mostly the dessicated and powdered cast off carapaces of bugs (cockroaches, flies, ants, etc)

yeah i know. i meant: i tried to imagine what a human being made out of this waste would look like. ew! |

Urgh. That is the most disturbing thing to imagine. |

thanks very much. i was going to have muesli for breakfast tomorrow. |
I think I've just annoyingly disabled myself and many others from ever being able to eat muesli again.

Not me! (Chomps heartily on a bowl of Disgusting Bran)

i was for 8 months or so. at the beginning it was quite hard, then i just got used to it. i felt quite healthier. i did it for no reason at all, just wanted to try it.
i had a friend who was a vegetarian as well, and would always argue with me when i started eating meat again. i usually dont mind... but it was weird, this person thought he was being ethic and all by not eating cows some other people was going to eat, and having an extended vegetarian menu which comes of harvesting that probably killed lots of small animals, plus the pesticides and plaguicides that were needed in order to make the field healthier for harvesting etc thing is, its good and healthy, but if you're doing it for the animals, it is not really working. meat sucks anyway. hard to digest, brings a lot of stomach pain to me and relatives. must be a gen. |
i got fat being vegetarian, as starches are my enemy (pasta, breads, all kinds of crap, even the whole-grain, non-refined kind) . i'm not diabetic but they fuck up my metabolism and lard me up. i'm built to eat meat and fish and lots of fruits and vegetables-- kinda like a cro-magnon would have eaten. everyone has a different body chemistry and nutritional needs, so there is no universal solution for everybody.
besides, i fucking love fish, it's great for my brain. i almost never eat pork, i could give up beef and chicken if i had some weird religious fervor to do so, but fish and seafood-- never. too fucking delicious and too good to give up. people claim that vegetarianism makes them 'healthier," but i'd argue that's only relative. of course vegetarianism and veganism are healthier than the average processed-foods diet of corn byproducts and industrial meats. but plant-only diets carry a risk of malnutrition. organic vegan cookies are still fucking cookies. soy has phytoestrogens-- they will shrink your testicles when consumed in excess. besides, agriculture destroys forests whereas animals can be grazed in natural pastures (think: new zealand. think: buffalo in the american prairie). for me, a diet of wild and organic meats and vegetables is WAY healthier than vegetarianism. when i was vegan (and trust me, i did this seriously, took supplements, etc), what happened to me is that i didn't get enough protein, or i had to consume too many calories to get them-- yes, there are proteins in bread, but they are buried in a ton of carbos-- so i gained weight and lost muscle mass. when i tried to start working out it would take me days to recover and i'd be sore forever. so i said fuckit and got myself some whey protein and started drinking protein shakes working out slowly, regrowing muscle fiber. these days i do cardio 6 times a week and weights 2-3 times a week and i eat lots of fish and seafood and meat and eggs and A TON of fruits and vegetables, most of it organic (fish can't be declared "organic", and organic beef is too pricey), i eat almonds and pecans daily, yogurt daily and a bit of cheese here and there (in large doses it's not good for you unless you're of certian european stock). i take a natural whey protein shake after i work out (about 40g)-- and i am stronger, and my brain is sharper, and i feel much much much better than i ever felt under the "ethical high" of being vegan or vegetarian while my body melted from the inside. my ancestors i am sure never had the 4-part stomach that ruminants have, and they were more concerned with survival than with fashionable morality- bless them. anyway, best wishes with your adventures though. keep an open mind and experiment with different things rather than jumping on this just cuz everybody is doing it. take note of your weight, energy levels, etc. if you're loath to adding at least some fish oil supplements to your diet, there are some fucking vegan omega 3 supplements made from plankton/seaweed-- flax and borage don't really fucking cut it when it comes to feeding the big ball of fatty tissue we call the brain. |
??? Do you mean documents referring to the benefits of veganism or fiction works featuring vegans as characters?
|
i LOVE MEAT

I'm vegan and stay away from a lot of the more 'militant' books as everyone is entitled to their own diet. That said, there's still a lot of great books that explore diets in general that promote the vegan lifestyle. Check out "Eating Animais" and "The China Study". |

I have been vego for about a month and a half now and its going alright.
I have lost about 5 kgs already, so im weighing about 59kg at the moment. I have cut all living creatures from my diet. Check out the movie Earthlings if you want a reason. |

what do you eat? steel bars? |
Glass mostly but if someone has prepared a steel bar then i will eat it.

Glass has a lot of nutritional elements, "but where do you get your protein"? |
I dont think i have really been getting much protein to be honest. possibly explains the weight loss.
