I'd had long hair my entire life, never had it shorter than mid-back, and it was so nice and pretty. But that was the thing, I was sick of it being "nice and pretty", so I cut it off. Obviously I'm not tying my hair to whatever culture I'm into but it was still a big deal first off, after a month or so I got used to it. I dunno.
