To the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, Lent (Hudadi or Abbiy Tsom) means a period of fasting when the faithful undergo a rigorous schedule of prayers and penitence. Bread/Cereal/Rice, Pasta, Biscuits and Cracker Group: 6-11 servings/day; 2. Meat/Beans/ Nut Group: 2-3 servings/day. 3. Milk and Milk Product Group: 2-3 servings/day. 4. Vegetable Group: 3-5 servings/day; 5. Fruit Group: 2-4 servings/day. 6. Added sugar (table sugar, sucrose): sparingly. 7. Added fat, polyunsaturated oil 4-7 table spoons. |
that's not really what i was talking about, i was talking about the kind where you like just drink water or some kind of juice instead of eating for a certain period of time. thank you though.

you know i might just do this how i would usually do it which is drink sugar free red bull and black coffee and smoke a shitload of cigarettes but i was looking for an option that wouldn't be so damaging to my health. |
you wanna lose fat? exercise. if this isn't an option. then try raw foods for a little while. salads and yogurts and meats. stay away from grains__ie >>breads/pastas/wheats and fatty veg's like avocados and peanuts.
also, carbonated beverages and beer and stuff usually isnt good. drink wine instead |
C - do you like eating fruit? If so, stock up on lots of that - you can eat as much as you want, and it has minimal calories. It makes a good and healthy alternative to the usual snacking (which I'm guilty of as well, so I know what you mean on this). Also, as a general "cooking" tip - instead of frying stuff, grill it instead - you still get the flavour of your chicken, bacon etc, but without the fat.
Also, an easy way to have a healthy meal w/out much cooking hassle - bake some fish, (a good fillet of cod or what have you, flavoured with herbs and lemon juice etc is good) for 20-30 mins, and have that with some steamed vegetables (whatever you prefer) - that's filling, and again not much in the way of calories too....I'm with davenotdead on the salads too - you could put together a yummy chicken salad, for example. I wouldn't recommend not eating - I've tried that before, and just ended up snacking at the end of it, thus defeating the point entirely. Hope at least some of this helps :) |

i hate most fruit, mostly because of the texture. the only fruit i really like is apples and i can't eat them. i don't eat vegetables either except for potatoes. nor will i ever abide to eating fish.

I'm not a vegan/vegetarian... well, obviously, egg rolls have meat in them... but I never eat hamburgers, steaks, etc. And in fact, the milk I drink is soy milk. One day I'll probably become a vegan. Not that it matters and I still probably won't call myself that. |

My biggest thing is holidays and going over to my girlfriend's house and they've fixed this huge dinner. It's always some fucking turkeys or steaks or something. Ick.

if you stop eating alltogether, your body will do it's best to preserve everything it has and it will take a while before you start losing weight. plus it's always better to get the stuff you need from your food, and not from pills. i have been taking extra vitamins for a while now and can't wait to stop, i'm 'learning' to keep up a healthy vegetarian diet.... lost some weight too, now my eating habits changed. usually, i have:
breakfast: a bowl of muesli with low-fat yoghurt and an apple or pear lunch: whole grain bread with cheese and a bit of soy butter, a piece of fruit dinner: always different, but always a combination of vegetables with pasta, rice or potatoes and beans, peas or nuts if necessary. i hardly ever eat stuff like tofu. snacks: usually some nutmix or fruit, sometimes cookies too. i'm told to eat more vegetal fat, that's why i put soy-based butter on my bread. |
As tasty as they are, crisps/snacks etc are absurdly high in salt, sugar and fats, and the same goes for ready meals. Unsalted cashews nuts or dried fruit make for tasty and healthy snacks. Also, it's much better to steam vegetables as opposed to boiling them, if you be cooking.
I'm eating far too much rubbish at the moment, to be honest, and it's time for me to sort meself out. |

I have acid reflux.
It makes me not want to eat anything that might possibly aggravate it. It has fucked up my back teeth (which is why I have cavities in those teeth). I take medicine for it but it makes me really exhausted so I try not to take it very often. But yeah it's part of the reason I'm so skinny.. cuz I LOVE food! |
