Well I don't know, the top is definitely taking shape, but I'm gonna wait for more votes

Yeah. Xiu Xiu is always number one. I'm wearing a xiu xiu t-shirt and a zip-up right now. Superxhardcorexfanx.

diskaholic-anonymous 08.06.2008 04:26 PM

eh!eh! at the ends the noise rock gonna be first of the list (more classical or not)...i think i've a beer waiting for me...

SuperCreep 08.06.2008 06:20 PM

I had a harder time composing this list than the all-time list. So much shit to choose from for this decade.

atsonicpark 08.07.2008 01:44 AM

Ick.

fugazifan 08.07.2008 02:10 AM

heres my list. just off the top of my head.
im suprised i mentioned my band and ASP didnt mention scissor shock
animal collective-feels
sir richard bishop-while my guitar violently bleeds
electrelane-the powerout
lightning bolt-hypermagic mountain
sonic youth-nurse
liars-the threw us in a trench and stuck a monument on top
boris-flood
om-variations on a theme
dellilah-sessions with dr luv
panda bear-person pitch

atsonicpark 08.07.2008 02:13 AM

Hah.

I don't feel like I've done anything worthy of a greatest album spot. Yet.

fugazifan 08.07.2008 02:17 AM

for the ten greatest albums, i actually tried to choose the best. but for this list i chose my favorite. if i was choosiing best then i would exchange dellilah, electrelane and liars for someone else, like sun O))) maybe goslings and something else...
and i was suprised to see no boris on your list

atsonicpark 08.07.2008 03:12 AM

My fav Boris albums came out in 1996, 1998, and ... oh, okay, 2000. I guess I could have put Flood on there actually, you're right. Didn't think it was a 2000 album.

Derek 08.07.2008 05:26 AM

Boris - Flood
maudlin of the Well - Bath
Kayo Dot - Dowsing Anemone With Copper Tongue
John Frusciante - Curtains
Richard Youngs - Sapphie
Six Organs of Admittance - School of the Flower
A Silver Mount Zion - "This Is Our Punk Rock" blah blah blah
Animal Collective - Prospect Hummer
Blonde Redhead - Misery Is A Butterfly
William Basinski - Melancholia

i dunno

SYRFox 08.07.2008 05:48 AM

Thanks to all that have sent votes so far! (thanks to you Trasher, since you have no PM space left :D)
The top is clearly taking shapes, it really has surprises, some albums I would not have expected.
Still taking votes of course...

SYRFox 08.07.2008 03:07 PM

Bump!

HaydenAsche 08.07.2008 03:26 PM

Derek, I don't know if Prospect Hummer qualifies as an album. It's just a little EP.

You know what I forgot?

The Unicorns - Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone?

Fucking classic.

SYRFox 08.07.2008 08:07 PM

Still taking votes!
(yep, a shameless bump before going to bed)

Dead-Air 08.07.2008 10:26 PM

I hate doing this, because I'm sure I'll forget something I love, but what the hell...

1) Sonic Youth - NYC Ghost & FLowers
2) Legendary Pink Dots - The Poppy Variations
3) Unwound - Leaves Turn Inside You
4) Jandek - Worthless Recluse
5) Sonic Youth - Sonic Nurse
6) Einsturzende Neubauten - Silence is Sexy
7) Black Happy Day - In the Garden of Ghostflowers
8) Melvins - Electroretard
9) Autechre - Quaristice
10) Sun City Girls - Superculto

atsonicpark 08.07.2008 10:33 PM

Worthless Recluse is soooooo fucking good.

One of the most frightening albums I've ever heard somehow as well.

Yeah, not too likely to make the big list, but I couldn't possibly overlook it nonetheless. It was so awesome when it came out, like the total fuck you answer to all the people who said, "He couldn't possibly get more primitive..." Why yes, he could.

steve newman 08.08.2008 04:11 AM

harvey milk - special wishes
melvins - nude with boots
cursive - the ugly organ
radiohead - hail to the thief
feist - the reminder
dillinger escape plan - ire works
the big sleep - sleep forever
fugazi - the argument
and you will know us by the trail of dead - worlds apart
battles - mirrored

Trasher02 08.08.2008 12:18 PM

When will we see the results?

SYRFox 08.08.2008 06:40 PM

I don't know, probably sometime early in the next week. It would be great to have more votes, but the top has a clear shape now. I still wait for votes though =)

fugazifan 08.08.2008 07:22 PM

religous knves-remains is also a great album...

atsonicpark 08.08.2008 07:25 PM

yeah it's got its moments, just heard that one the other day.

SYRFox 08.08.2008 07:29 PM

Agreed =) though I still prefer Double Leopards (I think one or two DL dudes are in Religious Knives, right??), especially Halve Maen, I think it's a real masterpiece

SYRFox 08.09.2008 11:43 AM

Bumpit bumpit, vote vote vote :D

I'm really bad at deciding/making lists and that's why I normally never do them... so I'm glad you are all here tonight to witness this special event.

Anyway, today it's:

1. Electric Wizard - Dopethrone
2. Circle - Prospekt
3. Double Leopards - Halve Maen
4. Boris - Feedbacker
5. The Dead C - The Dead C

, great list

i love religious knives too.

batreleaser 08.10.2008 06:12 PM

o, and the monster island czars are way to oft-verlooked. kind geedorah is the shit. that record ranks with the ebst hip of the decade me thinks; along with canox, viktor vaughn, ghostface, madvillain, clipse, etc..

batreleaser 08.10.2008 06:14 PM

its wierd to me though, people always gush over mf doom, but never talk about that record, wierd

pokkeherrie 08.10.2008 06:21 PM

?

therealglenstyler 08.11.2008 09:33 AM

Really great choices.

SYRFox 08.11.2008 02:44 PM

Ah! I was about to bump that thread actually. Thanks to pokkeherie and therealglenstyler for their lists. thereal, I took them as they came, so Jane Doe was first, Chris Clark second, etc.

To people who hasn't vote yet -> if you want to do it, you should do it quick, as the results will probably come on Wednesday or Thursday !

pokkeherrie 08.11.2008 02:49 PM

I think I might already regret mine, but you're welcome.

getting curious about the results now.

Toilet & Bowels 08.11.2008 06:40 PM

yeah, i did mine off the top of my head with out really thinking about it, and as a result i forgot can ox, and few other things. still, forgeting stuff makes the list writing progress easier.

cars_willkillyou 08.12.2008 02:39 AM

In no particular order:

Camera Obscura-Underachievers Please Try Harder
Stephen Malkmus-Face The Truth
Silver Jews-Tanglewood Numbers
Mogwai-Mr. Beast
Broken Social Scene-You Forgot It In People
Built to Spill-Ancient Melodies of the Future
Sunny Day Real Estate-The Rising Tide
Sean Lennon-Friendly Fire
The Sea and Cake-Everybody
Sonic Youth-Sonic Nurse
Verbena-La Musica Negra
Sparklehorse-It's a Wonderful Life
Ugly Casanova-Sharpen Your Teeth
Holopaw-Quit +/or Fight!
Johnny Cash: American IV: The Man Comes Around
Modest Mouse-The Moon and Antarctica
Pinback-Summer in Abaddon
Sonic Youth-Murray Street
Radiohead-Hail to the Thief
Thom Yorke-The Eraser

I figure Kid A has enough votes as is. Plus at this moment in time, I am more into Hail to the Thief than Kid A. And I actually loved Thom Yorke's album. Not that they should be compared
