yeah, it's awesome, i love the first 3 or 4 years of the dead c the most, but i think yeats' drumming didn't reach levels of awesomeness until later in their "career"

GEORGE HURLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Toilet & Bowels 04.26.2008 10:46 AM

yeah, when i saw han bennink play with peter brotzman i was blown away by his heavy samba rhythms for two reasons, firstly because he played amazingingly, and secondly because i was expecting some weird improv drummimg where he made scratchy noises on the drum heads, or something like that

evollove 04.26.2008 10:58 AM

Philly Joe Jones is an underrated jazz drummer. He's a a fav.

And Janet Weiss! Janet Weiss! Janet Weiss!

people may have confused this for the Best Drummer thread.

and even though posting more than one is technically off-topic, I've thought of a couple more...

Eric Harmon - Chainsaw Kittens omg.... I don't think that I've EVER seen anyone play drums so fiercely.

William Rieflin - Ministry, RevCo, Pigface, 1000 Fucking Homo DJs, Swans and....uh....REM. <--

Dwayne R Goettel - Skinny Puppy, Download, Hilt, The Motherfucking Tear Garden .....rest in pieces

Panda Bear's drumming on Danse Manatee and Spirit They've Gone, Spirit They've Vanished is some of the most inventive and difficult playing I've ever heard.
