I could have sworn that I've touched CD's in the past. Guess they don't exist and I was wrong.

SYRFox 03.06.2008 09:52 AM

Hum. So when you listen to your CD you hear "000011011110011100000000010101"? Nah guy, you hear MUSIC, okay. If you want concrete and existing music, go see the fuckin' band live. Recorded music is recorded music, whatever format it's on.

vinyl is not music either, then, since what we hear is the air moving. BUT, I can see what you are saying, in a way (sampling rates and stuff).

noisereductions 03.06.2008 10:11 AM

By the vinyl isn't concrete. It's vinyl. CD's aren't concrete either. They're plastic.

OK, i'll stop bitching you, i'm off with that, i'm a nice guy and it's so excitting to bitch people, i never do that so ... well
FUCK YOU ALL
nah, just kidding

what i really want to say is
1- you have to get a turntable : it will allow you to discover much more music, i'm not saying vinyl only release are good (yep, isaid that but anyway) but there's so much good stuff from the 70's for example. You know, you miss them
2- i listen to music for a long time now but i get a turntable later and it changed my life. Buy both cd and vinyl of a same album and tell me wich format you prefer. art is better on vinyl, insert too. You can get coloured wax etc etc Check qbico records, an only vinyl releases label almost all in coloured wax
you'll never find that anywhere else
3- some sayit is a disaventage to turn the side but for me it is an advantage, as i said previously, you have to take care of the sound, you often listen in a quiet room. Ok, you can listen cd's in a quiet room too but you can listen cd's in a car or at your job and you won't feel them the same
4- cd's sucks, that's all, no arguments against that ;-))
5- vinyl is hip. When you have vinyls at home, you're so coooool. You get all the girls you want (just wear a tee shirt "i have a turntable at home" and you'll see what's happened)
6- cd's sucks, that's all, no arguments against that

I own a lot of vinyl. Most of which is not on CD. I own way more CD's though.

ok, we just don't have the same taste.

noisereductions 03.06.2008 10:56 AM

guys, I know it's not a matter of who's cooler or who can piss off people the better :D , it's just a matter of tastes and "music listening habits". Most of the time I listen to music when I'm not in my room/house for a variety of reasons, so vinyl isn't really much useful to me, me likes portability in this point of my life...when I'll get enough money (and room, and time) to set up a proper listening environment in my home I'll be glad to shop for a good turntable/amps/speakers. Now I still buy vinyl sometimes, but they pile up and I listen to the cd versions, a shame, huh?
Anyways, the whole point of this kind of threads is:

Q: will it be released on Vinyl? A: YES!

vinyl lovers/the original "schedule" for this release will be happy/fulfilled.

Q: why don't make cd-only buyers happy too?
A: Coz vinyl rules!

ah ha , no, seriously, "adding" another format, unless the "creators" WANT to keep it strictly to vinyl for wathever reason, wouldn't do harm, I guess (see master dik).
Sorry if I bitched you ,nobye-noaloha
it was not a "personal attack" or anything similar, I just tried to make people see the other side of the "market" :D.
It's not that someone has to be right or wrong.

noisereductions 03.06.2008 12:35 PM

same thing with me nicfit. 90% of my listening is out of my house. I still pick up vinyl from time to time, but more as a collectable item. The majority of my listening is either CD's or on mp3 player. I'd rather source the mp3's from an actual CD that I bought and have added to my collection.

█████████ 03.06.2008 02:44 PM

you people should calm down, you can easily make syr7 cd's, mp3's, cassetes... whatever.

whereas other people cannot make a vinyl pressings of syr6 by themselves.

noisereductions 03.06.2008 02:55 PM

I don't want a CD I made. I want one with awesomely matching SYR artwork. But yeah, I do feel for the SYR6 vinyl mongers.

█████████ 03.06.2008 03:20 PM

well i'm not a vinyl monger, i really dont care, this kind of decisions are not up to us.
some music fits great on cassete other on cd, other on vinyl, other on multiple formats etc, it's up to the band to choose to fit in a determined context.

so get over it, they are issuing it on vinyl this time, i'm sure there will be some artwork too.

I guess you are right. The band must think of a variety of aspects (aesthetic, commercial, technical) before they decide on the format.

I think no cd-fans ever said anything "against" a vinyl release of cd-only stuff... :p

Everyneurotic 03.06.2008 07:40 PM

whine whine whine.

sheesh.

l'voyeur 03.06.2008 09:37 PM

in the other thread I posted that I'd like also a cd release ...but later of read all this CHAKA-CHAKA-BUM-BUM I changed my opinion...If SY makes me buy a turnable and all that stuff ,well I think is a great idea, like a new adventure...exist many more new and interesting vinyl releases out there (not only SY) and I would be more than happy of hear all them...
