you guys are old INSIDE
may as well start complaining about High Def TV hurting yr eyes, or skateboarding being a nuisance comic books are serial art. they are as important and valid as any form of media. stop showing yr ignorance. |
Am I the only one who posts sober here?
I know, I'm just giving you a hard time, Rob. Comic books--or are they graphic novels--are great. I love them. |
I've never been disturbed by a comic book character. I can't take a "Supervillian" seriously.
I've seen plenty of movies that have disturbed me.. Xiu Xiu: The Sent Down Girl, for example, was actually pretty fucked up... go see it! For the record: I don't see a problem with skateboarding. HDTV is overrated as fuck. I prefer 16-bit games but I like a lot of PS2 and Gamecube games. I buy DVD's, but I also still buy VHS. I don't have a cellphone. I like loud noise. |
I appreciate the art of comic books but they don't affect me as emotionally as movies and books.
|
Yeah.

Try living without one in NYC. You'll be openly mocked, miss out on events, parties, and business opportunities. Hell - I don't own a land line and haven't for 6 years. |
comic books and novels and non-fiction books are for me.
movies are by necessity shallow in comparison. |

Openly mocked!? What, and do people throw snowballs at you? "Look, there goes a guy without a phone! Get him!" |
Phones are a waste of my time and money. Fuck 'em.
Anyway, the only thing that disturbs me is this: ![]() |
whatever the masses are doing, do the opposite. that way you are either cool retro style or so futuristic trend-setting they don't know what to do with ya
|
I've never paid attention to the masses.

The actions that the character takes are not the sole reason for an actor portraying the character in the way they do. the actor must bring an emotional depth an honesty to the character and on occasion this can be emotionally gruelling for the actor. it has nothing to do with the rating and what violence is seen on screen. the best performances you see on screen and on stage are from people who mine their soles to find something in themselves of the character. deniro, brando, and the likes do/did this. prior to taxi driver deniro went and worked as a cabby for 12 months so he could bring those learned experiences to his character also. |
They must pull from deep within themselves.

Oh, I get it now!
Heath became a psychopathic killer with a sense of humor in preparation for his role as the Joker! The only person he killed was himself, though.. hmm. |

no you don't |
I think he might have been overthinking this whole thing then a bit.
|
Blah blah blah. Let's change topic, Britney was at another court meeting sometime this week.
|
I heard she came out in support of Obama.
|
I heard she gave him a hickie near the groin.

|

ledger has a video interview with him saying joker was his favourite character to play and he had the most fun |

i think jack warned him about taking the certain drugs he was taking
thats what the warning was about news gets changed easly |
even it it was a reference to the role of the joker and not to take it easy on the pills...
someone mentioned deniro's role in taxi driver, which is a good example of a dark character played by a colder emotionally, but just as methodical an actor as say, his nemesis in heat, pacino - who's all raw emotion and gut instinct. to hear the crew of apocalypse now talk about going upriver in the filipino jungle, it's possible to become unhinged in the process of making certain movies regardless of which side of the camera you're on, and dennis hopper, martin sheen, marlon brando and really anyone still alive when they get off the boat are all clearly becoming unhinged to varying degrees in real life, captured on film and edited into a movie... ...even so, i kind of thought jack was talking about pills... |
Quote:
yes but you can have fun putting yourself in that situation and be around people who have the same goal of making a good film..... it is a much different type of fun. |
i still think this whole THE JOKER KILLED THE LEDGER is being over done and is crap
|
Quote:
true, it does depend on yr definition of 'fun' ...martin sheen hit the bottle hard enough to collapse from cardiac arrest around the time they shot the scene where he punches the mirror, near the beginning of the movie. (apparently he really did slice his hand pretty badly and it's all really his blood.) who knows how much acid and whatever else dennis hopper was taking (coppola claims that they stopped giving him script updates because he would just butcher the lines anyway; so they would just find him wherever he had passed out, shake him conscious, hand him a cup of coffee or some speed and get him in front of the camera with other actors without even telling him what was happening in the scene.) and i think marlon brando had his first serious heart attack while they were filming and had to be helicoptered out... |
So, Jack Nicholson warned him about a bunch of stuff, apparently, because my mom was watching the news a few nights ago and said that the quote Jack Nicholson quote was from him saying, "I warned you ... about that stuff." in reference to him taking Ambien, a crazy sleeping pill.
I've taken Ambien, it's.. INSANE.. I actually know someone who took it and they literally went insane and had to go and get counseling for a few months.. some people can't deal with it.. it makes you hallucinate REALLY badly.. ugh. |
iv taken ambien aswell and it wasnt that nuts
although we did climb this cricket cage and had the idea to poo through the fencing...hm maybe it was a bit nuts |
Hmm.. well, I took ambien-CR. Which is a little different. I only took it a few times but when I started seeing my mom with 5 eyeballs, I decided to quit.
|
well mine was ambien-CR3000 so ner!
:P nah mine was the aussie version, i dont remember what its called, but it wasnt bad. |
Different pains for different brains I guess.
|
??
not to sure what that meant or if you were still even talking to me but we didnt have it for pains, just had it for fun and see how it went |
I meant, "you're a different person so the medicine affected you differently than it did me."
|
ah yes
it seems to make lots of peope do wacky things |
