and the double image what the hell is up with that. doesnt really seem to accomplish anything aesthetically
|
Yeah. The back is annoying as well. Theyre all randomly written.
|
oh huh i never noticed that ill have to check it out but i dont own it anymore i burned everything and sold it years ago
|
Yeah on the reissue, theres bonus songs which are kinda too much for the tracklisting.
|
i was so disappointed in the reissue! i just deleted them after one listen
|
It's okay. The ep is all that matters. I didn't even listen to the bonus tracks.
|
maybe thers one or wo songs worth saving but everything else is just basically earlier versions of songs. too similar to be all that interesting.
|
The Good & The Bad own though.
|
the earlier version of that is track ten Loud And Soft
|
Yes and it's fucking great, maybe my favorite song of the EP except for I Dreamed I Dream

It's no doubt an Andy Warhol/Velvet Underground reference. The silver background on the original American version suggests Warhol's silver-clad Factory, and the double image suggests the repeating images in his pop art. |
hey thats pretty good. now i feel kinda dumb saying it didnt accomplish anything aesthetically.

Yeah, I got it now. It seems so. |
I would like to restate how awesome Bad Moon Rising's cover is.
|
Yeah BMR is pretty awesome. I used to not like it, but its amazing.

yeah same, I used to hate it for some reason, but dont anymore. |
I didnt like the sunshine/green colour. But its amazing now.

I love that Halloween theme that runs through so many of their record covers: Bad Moon Rising, Walls Have Ears, the various versions of Halloween and Halloween II, the Bad Mood bootleg, possibly even A Thousand Leaves, if the theory about it being influenced by that old Foster horror flick is correct.
I'd love to see Bad Moon reissued as a double LP, by the way. |
Rather Ripped
A Thousand Leaves Washing Machine are my least faves. |
Washing Machine is disgraceful
|
I wouldn't go that far, by any means. But it is probably their only cover that looks better in the CD booklet configuration--the LP cover cuts off more of the teenagers' heads--you just see their chins (if any of this actually matters--probably doesn't--the music is what it's really all about).

EVOL is the best cover in my opinion... i'm not sure of a worst, a few come to mind.
|
worst album cover ever

even the worst cover sonic youth have ever put out is a million times better than that piece of garbage

i like the washing machine, but i dislike the kids, it would be great if it was just the machine |
as far as sonic youth covers go, I like them all. The one I like least though is the cover for EJST&NS

My least favourite, visually AND musically, is Washing Machine. The EP's art is pretty bland, but it's a fucking great album (and a great reissue, regardless of what others say!) EJSTANS is pretty boriung as well, but I like the switchable format. I have it on the black/kitty-cat right now, in the past it's been the horse and the one with the 45's and candy. |
am i the only one who doesn't like the DDN cover.
|
Yes.
|
oh.
|
yes you are

Richter rules.

I love having all my albums on display because I really like all their covers. I'd say my least favorite would be Goo. It seems a little phony to me... as if they were trying to impress because they just started with Geffen. Plus, all the pictures of themselves inside, it's kind of like "take my picture for myspace!!" if it existed.
|
i dont agree with your opinion of goo, love the art on the cover, and love seeing them have a bit of fun with the photography! What the hell, we all need to have a laugh once in a while eh?
As for my least favourite album cover, it would have to be nyc ghosts and flowers, was really let down when i saw it, not by the music though My favourite is EVOL hands down! |
Rather Ripped, Experimental Jet Set, and A Thousand Leaves.
