Not to dispute the marvel of it, but I believe that falls firmly under instinct.
The possibilty of malnutrition resulting in the lack of hormonal release is very likely; and let's face it, the biochemical programming of hormone and protein release-triggers is also likely the source of 'instinct'. For example, an owl who is sexually mature for the first time may exhibit this behavior, despite having no foreknowledge of how it may affect her chicks. Then again, perhaps we should query an orinthologist. My specialty occurs below 1.616199 x 10-35 meters. Owls, and their prey, tend to be much larger. |
