I pay £275 a month sharing a nice 2-bed upper floor flat. One-bedrooms around here (East Newcastle, studenty-but-not-rich-wanky-studenty) are about £400/month. £600-£700 would get you a swanky pad in the centre of town.

£600-£700 would get you a swanky pad in the centre of town or on the quayside.

But you'd have to live in Newcastle:(.

where the fuck do you live? Rialto?

shit, even in Bell or North Long Beach a studio apt is running between $700-900

the cheapest apt rentals in almost ALL LA area locales is $900-1100 single bed, $1200-1600 2-3 bed, and for a HOUSE the rental is between $1000-1400 single be, $1200-2400 2-3 bed...

rent is fucking ridiculous in Los Angeles, the shit is like fucking feudalism, which is understandable in the UK but in the States?

I've complained sufficiently enough about where I live for people to know by now.

why do you think they sent the indians here?

yes, there are scams, but they are easy to tell. people who want you to make a deposit without even seeing the place etc.

most of the time theres a phone number.

its quite pricey here but we managed to get a bargain for the area and pay $755 including bills. that works out to about 450 pounds between two which is very nice. the rest of the area is quite expensive so we got very lucky.

$500 monthly. But I live in the middle of nowhere and have to drive 30 miles for a loaf of bread.

floatingslowly 02.26.2010 09:25 PM

I know YOU feel my pain, girl.

girl! 02.26.2010 09:32 PM

I do. But I like the middle of nowhere. usually.

floatingslowly 02.26.2010 09:36 PM

I would too. I want a cave. with central heating and air.

and the internet.

ps: you've been spared ice storms and earthquakes.

girl! 02.26.2010 09:50 PM

ah ...see, my cave lacks CH/A. That would make it perfect.

I pay 420 pounds a month for a very large room 5 minutes from The City. It includes all bills, though. I share with 3 other people who are cool and I hardly ever see. The flat is not huge but clean, and I like the area where I live, plus it's not far from where I work.

I looked on a site for property to rent in West Sussex and wasn't surprised to read the rent for a 2 bed apartment in my town is £1,500 pcm. Mind you, it is part of a former Victorian mansion situated in the town centre.
