to me it means the year punk BROKE. the year that all it's aspirations died.

It's more or less the same.

I guess that is true.

to me punk broke because the ideals (lofty word for a mindset) were turned into an ideology. that shit happened way before 1991 right?

Probably. I guess punk was mainstream in 1977.
But in the eighties, it was a subculture, and only the audience would make a band success.
Then came Nirvana, with video clip, promotion, hype ; punk turned into a part of the music industry again.

I think 79/80 was a huge start turning point for Noise though, with Merzbow, Hijokaidan, Whitehouse and many other "main" players erupting at that time.

And fucken, Punk really did hit big and hard in 76-77.

I WAS THERE.

"Noise" has to be the lamest genre ever thought up by music hacks as a means to lump bands together. It's probably the most generic.

Hahaha. Bait.

Do you actually listen to music or do you try and find intellectual differences with everything?

That's the point I was making in regards to music hacks insistence of lumping bands together under lazily thought up genres. Way to go in using it to insult me with.
