oh well, we always have the 1950s.

The 60s you know is going to be Beatles/Velvet Underground dominated.

Problem with the 50s though is that I can't really think of more than a few albums from the 50s. I gotta research up I guess!

Anyway you're the boss for this one..

1 Sex Pistols.Nevermind the Bollocks
2 Joy Division.Unknown Pleasures
3 Buzzcocks.Live at the Roxy

exponential how?

as in 25th is worth 1 point, 24th 2 points, 23rd 4 points, 22nd 5 points, etc?

I don't think it would change much.

I think what might work best is to break it down like this:

1st: 25 pts
2nd: 24 pts
3rd: 23 pts
4th: 22 pts
5th: 21 pts:
6-10: 20 pts
11- 20- 15 pts
21-25- 10 pts

I think that scoring system might be slightly better than mine.

I think if you do it that way you are going to get an incredible amount of ties. The advantage of spreading it across all 25 points, is you get more single point differences when you compile your list.

pantophobia 11.03.2008 01:24 AM

which is true, but on a personal note, can be quite disappointing when an album you really like gets only 1 point and is at the bottom, but yes it's the most fair way

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 11.03.2008 02:05 AM

the thing that I'd like is for albums that appear in the most lists to get a bit of a bonus, perhaps even though they are ranked lower.

For example, 24 people could put an album in their list as number 25, but one album could get a single vote for number one from one person and that album automatically would surpass the aforementioned album.

Death & the Maiden 11.03.2008 03:26 AM

This is difficult. My favourite 70s album is Television's The Blow Up, but everyone is going to vote for Marquee Moon and not The Blow Up, so I might have to compromise and leave it off my list.

greedrex 11.03.2008 03:49 AM

There are a succession of appalling lists in this thread.

gmku 11.03.2008 03:54 PM

Fuck that. God, I hate music lists. I really do.

Glice 11.03.2008 04:18 PM

I keep trying to think of albums I like from the 70s, and I can only think of 2. That's pretty shit, isn't it?

Hang on... I'm sure Dolly must've released a few...

No, fuck it, I can't be arsed.
