airport police are the worse. they searched my bag and madea big fuss about it. i was not allowed to touch anything they took everything apart looking for a lighter which they confiscated while making a huge fuss. they took swabs from the inside of my bag and tested them for drugs and generally were really rude and uncertious towards me.

when i pointed out that i had matches they said nothing and carried on. so i am allowed matches but not a lighter on a plane. that makes a lot of sense doesnt it.

A friend of mine went to the USA recently. On the plane they were sitting next to some guy who was being deported, and exchanged a couple of words with him. As a result, y friend was swiftly accosted at the US airport and interrogated for three hours, quite unpleasantly. She's in her late sixties.

i dont mind the security at airports being tight, it needs to be for obvious reasons, but when they go about the job in such a bloody minded way and make such stupid decisions like banning lighters but not matches then they are going to make everyone hate them and question them.

I'd say fueling it, rather than fueled by it. The governments are revelling in it.

I don't even understand the "fear". It really isn't logical at all. It can't just be that. Greed lies at the bottom of everything political.

Power. The more our government can make people afraid, the more they can rob us with taxes and restrict us with oppressive laws. Doubly so for a labour government, where that's the aim. Laws and taxes = control and money swilling through government.

I despise this government, truly despise them. As a collective body and as individuals, they repulse me.

They represent the polar opposite of liberty.
