I think that weird reason is that he's an absolute dork who rode on the coattails of having been in Rainbow and Sabbath 2.0 to put out the most hackneyed solo records imaginable. Actually, I've known quite a few indie kids to claim to be into him the same lameass ironic way they claim to be into rubbish like Boston and Poison. I think Dio's worth to society was made perfectly clear when he penned the Hear 'N Aid "metal" benefit for Africa song "Stars". I'm sure it must have raised at least $1.82. |
Fair enough. I wasn't aware of the ironic fanbase they'd acquired. Anyway, I was thinking of Holy Diver, which would be a pretty obvious choice for any so-called fan of mid-period Sabbath I would've thought.

"no sign of the morning coming!!! you've been left on your own, like a rainbow in the dark!!!!!"
many vocalists can sing about hobbits, but how many of them are actually hobbits? dio man, dio!!!! (i deliveratedly missed heaven and hell [sabbath with dio] because...uhh...it was sabbath with dio and they were not to play ozzy era shit. i like some of h&h/mob rules songs but overall...nah. rainbow were awesome though). |

Introducing...
EMO! It's the worst parts of Indie and Metal all moulded into one hideous sound! |
I don't know any indie kids that like (or pretend to like) these bands. Or even metal for that matter. They all say "metal is the worst music genre, so is whatever's popular."

cantankerous knows what's up.
ps: irony is for suckers. |

Kayo Dot are metal? I guess maybe one or two songs have metalish parts but yeah.

Yeah, in all honesty, "emo" has nothing to do with metal whatsoever. |
Do younger indie-types like Trivium? I wouldn't be surprised.
They aren't big on Judas Priest. I know that much. The oafs. Until a man has clenched his fist along to Grinder, well, he isn't a man. Frankly. |
