Oh, and I hardly think donnie darko is a cult film..

A cult film is something like visions of suffering, begotten, id, stuff like that -- only like 500 people have watched those movies! Donnie Darko.. everyone has at least HEARD OF IT, though only, you know, a couple MILLION have actually seen it.

Donnie Darko is such a trite movie, I can't believe people actually like it.

i actually found it mildly entertaining and aesthetically pleasing, but not mind blowing as many people found it-- probably because i am in the habit of reading since i was 3 years of age and i don't find these kind of scenarios "surprising" in any way. what i mean to say is that i didn't suffer when i watched it, and i don't need to see it again, but i can see how this can be "wow, maaaaan, that's deeeep" for some people-- whatever.

Yeah it is no Borges. This summer I promise to read his book, I kind of stopped because of school.

1) you have a very fair idea of what dragon ball is, grown man.
2) dragon ball started in the 70's in japan, when it reached mexico i was like 10 years old.
c) i have always hated dragon ball.
*) i rather watch shit for little children than whatever diahrrea passes for entertainment these days.

YES BUT WITH AMY SMART AND BAI LING.

Mind, that director's cut was a fucking travesty. How can you possibly get rid of The Killing Moon from the opening sequence? There was no conceivable better introduction to a film that's all about echoes & bunnymen...

all I know is that my brotyher, 33 years old, enjoys watching cartoons and that he has mentioned dragonball as one, I don;t wanna know more or what specifically a dragon ball is.

make your own entertainment!

sonic youth is entertainment!

Everyneurotic 05.09.2008 04:30 PM

nah, sy is more than that.

Donnie Darko is one of those films that often inspires a number of students to take philosophy on as a major. Eventually they realize that philosophy isn't all watching "far out" movies or whatever and become social science majors or something.

I hate those people.

batreleaser 05.09.2008 08:57 PM

donnie darko is the dumbest movie ever

batreleaser 05.09.2008 09:01 PM

its one of those movies and you catch what it means, and youre like all those lead ups and hints and puzzles and clures for THAT! a fucking time portal! and everything is normal again! pretty much everything i hate in a movie; pretentious, trying too hard to be hip, and utterly pointless. id rather watch the sillieest dumbest will farrel movie outthere a million times over than watch donnie darko once more.

the worst is kids who think theyre into "hip and experimental" movies and love this, then you ask them what their favorite cronenberg is and theyre like "huh, whos that, ur a wierdo".

EMMAh 05.09.2008 09:08 PM

I think I'll pass on this...

pbradley 05.09.2008 09:20 PM

The whole pretension of the film is around the fact that it is aware of its own deus ex machina. As though being aware of contrivance will excuse contrivance.

Also predestination paradox is not all that original in science fiction.

ALIEN ANAL 05.09.2008 10:12 PM

this just like American Psycho 2 or butterfly affect 2

it really isnt a part of the first film and best go ignored

and rob it seems that the dark knight is more based off of the long halloween not year 2.

and i enjoyed donnie darko a whole lot

krastian 05.10.2008 12:49 PM

Donnie Darko is one of the most "overrated" movies in the history of the universe.

pbradley 05.10.2008 12:51 PM

I like to watch Donnie Darko and Garden State back to back.

While I crochet.

Everyneurotic 05.10.2008 02:01 PM

now, the thought of garden state 2 would surely mean the apocalypse.
