bullets over broadway was the last movie of his i enjoyed and it was funny, but it was no zelig or bananas. i stopped watching after deconstructing harry.

...i enjoyed wild man blues, but it wasn't a "woody allen movie" it was a documentary about him made by someone else.

mother fuck, when i saw zelig, it was in a big screen, some arthouse show, and i laughed so fucking hard, and for so long, i had bellyaches, i must have turned blue.

the subsequent viewings weren't as funny for some reason. they lacked the joys of asphyxia.

anyway if you like his goofy shit try small time crooks-- it's very goofy. great characters too. then there's the story--whatever--that's not where its strengths are and i think that's why it hasn't been properly appreciated.
