And, am I mistaken on "Pan's Labyrinth" being 2007? I'm surprised that didn't make anyone's list, I really enjoyed that. I'm definitely going to see "The Orphanage."

Yeah, it's even a bit silly in River's Edge hahah. As improbable as it may seem, it's really a pretty good movie. I had the same feeling as you expressed, but Gosling's excellent performance in Half Nelson (my #2) from last year made me want to check it out. Like some of them on the list, I didn't see it in the theater, but at the computer, which isn't the preferred method.
