I have a pro-ject debut III, it's a good little piece and sounds ideal for what you're after. I've been looking around for a nice amp for it, what's the usb transducer, an analogue to digital converter?

oh, sweet, good to know. i've read lots of good things about it. with more $ i might pick a thorens or a rega but this should do.

and yeah-- transducer is anything that changes signals from one type to another. that's not the way it's marketed though, but yeah, that's what i'm after. less hassle than jacking it to a crappy laptop soundcard.

I hope that turntable doesn't have auto-return.

I'm guessing it just starts up when you move the arm and that maybe you have to physically move the belt to get it to go 45 RPM?

i hate automatic anything. pain in the ass. i have this mxbx tiny record i've never listened to because my current tt will return the arm before it even plays. but anyway.

there is supposedly some kind of optional accessory that isolates the speed from voltage fluctuations and also lets you switch to 45 w/ a button, but i don't think i need it.

I have a fully auto/manuall JVC turntable that does it all. The best 5 bucks I ever spent it almost hurts to play my cds the turntable sound so nice. But I can't wait till January, I will be picking up a pair of Techniques 1200's, a pair of Yamaha 15 inch speakers & a crown amp.
