I like the Bends alot.
|
fale plastic trees is my favorite radiohead song. i've always like the bends and i always will. plus, it reminds me of my younger days right when i was expanding my mind in music and not just listening to the exploited all day.
|
thisthread is like comparing a 2am burger with a venison steak sandwich... both strictly food but on different levels of food!
|
aren't radiohead supposed to be heavily influenced by SY?

Shh, don't say that, they will get you. |
let's only hope they're as sluggish on the draw as thom yorke's pathetic singing!
jkjkjkjkjkjk "bangers and mash" and "4 minute warning" are two great songs. |
The Bends is my favourite Radiohead of all time. Not because of the quality but because it was THE album that opened my eyes and started my (so far) life-lasting hunt for good music. That was the point where it all started. Hell, I was 15, man.
I value it over DDN, that way. |
How in hell do you compare a pioneering record like DDN to an Album that was dedicated to the late great Bill Hicks?
It would be fairer to compare a cabbage with a hyena! |

The Bends used to be my favorite too. I don't know. DDN isn't my favorite SY album and I probably listen to the Bends way way more. |

GASP! The Bends is such a great album! You can say that it's not, but you can't forget the abyss that is Pablo Honey. You can't say PB is better than the Bends. That just bends reality. If you say the Bends is shit, then Pablo Honey is antimatter. |

nope. the Pixies were their big influence |

True, at least for the early-Radiohead. |
Radiohead are more influenced by Television, the Talking Heads, Joy Division or the Smiths than by SY (even though they surely love them).
|
Even though DDN isn't my favourite SY album, there are three songs on it that totally shit all over Radiohead's entire output.
|
I own both albums.
Daydream nation is a masterpiece, it's musically a lot better and more original than The Bends, and it has an unique youthful energy that makes it trascend time. The bends has greats moments, like the beautiful Fake plastic trees or Yorke's falsettos on High and dry, but the rest of the album consists of common 90s acoustic ballads and jangly pop songs with some shoegazy touches. Nothing so different from what Smashing Pumpkins, Ride, Pixies, R.E.M or many other bands were doing before. |
:)I have to say most ridiculous poll ever
|
...and people actually responded seriously to this thread, the surprises never end.
cryptopsy is coming to mexico! destined to be the best show of the year. |
still, if you went to a Radiohead message board and started a poll like Kid A vs. Goo you'd get the same response
