As far as I can remember, Sonic Youth made announcements at the old board trying to find the person who made it to obtain their permission for inclusion on Corporate Ghost, and was unable to make contact.

"This video was the winner of a 120 Minutes contest for fans to send in videos for any song on Dirty. It was made by an SY fan from Texas named Steven Helweg (not sure of spelling) who got to appear on the show with the band. The actual video is basically dolls made up to look like SY performing the song onstage, including drumsticks on the Thurston puppet's guitar! They also showed clips from fan vids of Swimsuit Issue (a bunch of shirtless men) and Nic Fit (someone running around in a field, then holding up a flaming stuffed animal). This video was shown at absolute most once after initial broadcast. This was all back in 1992, but I'm pretty sure that's how it went. I also remember SY talking about a releasing a compilation of the best entries, but that never happened, I don't know if this was ever released in any way. Hope this helps." "

good change it was send in for the same program, but aired later...?

This one for Drunken Butterfly is a bonus extra on Corporate Ghost.

i used to have this hosted on a web server. somebody from england sent me a PAL tape and i dubbed it onto NTSC, captured and compressed it. it's out there somewhere.

If the person in England taped it off of MTV2, then it's likely that the one that's being shared in this thread originated from your copy.

I think that was the Nic Fit video, with some guys destroying a TV w/ the MTV logo on it.

I'm not even sure if the band are aware of the Theresa video.

Speaking of phantom videos, how about Stereo Sanctity? It was actually ON an SST Video compilation, and yet the band seemingly have no recollection of it, and it certainly wasn't on Screaming Fields...

If I recall, it's a live version set over factory footage.

if anyone has a spare moment and has downloaded this video, it would be really appreciated if you could upload it onto You Tube. Unfortunately I can't download the big file with my Internet connection, and I'd love to see it again. I think it deserves a wider audience too.
