If the audience behaves, they may be invited to join in “crowd sonics.” 10 pm Russ Johnson Quartet Russ Johnson (trumpet) Mick Rossi (fender rhodes) Eivind Opsvik (bass) Gerald Cleaver (drums) The premier performance of Russ' new compositions with a collection of downtown's finest improvisers. 9/25 Tuesday (JB) 8 pm Dither Taylor Levine (guitar) Josh Lopes (guitar) James Moore (guitar) Simon Kafka (guitar) Original, arranged and commissioned works for electric guitars with help from a bunch of amps, cables and pedals! 10 pm Jaap Blonk Jaap Blonk (voice, electronics) Jaap Blonk presents a solo performance for voice and live electronics featuring new pieces and improvisations. He will concentrate on extremes of timbre and texture: harsh to mellow, very sparse to really dense. Part of the function of the electronics is being an unpredictable duo partner for the voice WELL??? |

I've no idea if they'll "hold" tickets if you ring and ask them, but it could be worth a try. It'll give you an excuse to go there and browse too. |

thanks to all who posted, turns out work got suppa-tough and we had little time to hang out-- we accomplished 2 things only in the realm of "fun":
1) arrive late to the knitting factory to see circle, miss oneida completely, and catch only 2 songs plus th encore of circle's set. 2) eat kebab & that place in macdougal street-- truly awesome, especially after some drinkies. the rest was work & sweat & junk food & little sleep. but it was like a vacation, exciting to work in new york, and the 6-day workout was great. |
circle and kebab, what more can you ask for?
