album art is part of the reason i still buy music. if an album's artwork is lacking, i'll probably just download it. if the artist/band don't care enough about what they're putting on/in the sleeve, why should i care enough to buy the record? i'd rather show support in a manner that benefits us both (like seeing them live).

That's dumb. You're obviously mad and feed a little hamster during the day.

Changing the subject, but does anyone know if there's any intention of a label re-releasing the old Live Skull albums?

The music always comes first for me. It could have the worse cover and I would still buy it if the tunes were right. If the cover is cool, that's an awesome bonus but not required.

i like when an album has something to read on the inside.

like refused- shape of punk to come or shellac - at action park.. those had really interesting things to look at and read... also, really good art direction is nice too.. i can count the most recent radiohead releases as examples of having mreally interesting art to loo kat and shit..

Agree that Radiohead packaging is generally excellent. But probably really expensive to produce.

When I no longer care what the critics think and I want to be surprised, then I look for records that are attractively packaged.

How long did it take me to discover the hidden booklet in Radiohead's Kid A?

I have to admit, if I'm on the fence about buying an album, good cover art will sway me. It's why I probably miss a lot of good new releases--I don't think much of the cover art stands up to what's been done already. I bought the new Battles thing partly because I thought the cover photo was interesting, and I bought Grinderman because the LP is gatefold.

I jump with joy when an album that I love musically comes in a great package. But obviously I don't have the economic means to buy something "just" because it is nicely dressed.

I bought janes addictions ritual de lo habitual without hearing any of their music before hand and i absolutely love that album to this day. my favourite covers though have to be the nation of ulysses' ..plays pretty for baby and 13 point plan to destroy America, very similar to the shape of punk to come sleeve, tons of care and tons to read.
I find vitually all of the WARP records covers aesthetically beautiful but am always dissapointed that they never ever have anything more on the inside sleeve...I wanna read stuff or nerd out on studio pics.!!
