Something like that. He was ushered out.

Sounds like he went to the concert with the sole purpose of doing this. I hope he didn't manage to ruin the concert for the others.

No, it was only a brief interjection and it was one of the best things I have ever seen. That incident just seemed to cement it's mythic status in my mind. Not sure how much everyone else dug it because the crowd had thinned out a lot by the end but that could be as much to do with last bus/last train situations and London crowds in general.

Glice 05.13.2007 05:28 AM

I seem remember it as a welcome interjection of mirth. I had, up until that point, forgotten to exist, such is the wonder of Haino.

Ben Watson also threw an empty pint glass at EAR once, hitting Eddie Prevost's drums, He shouted "Hippy Bollocks!" and then stormed out. He later wrote to Prevost to apologise.

Did he? I'm surprised that he didn't get a kick in the face. There was this gig that he played at the foundry where the hecklers were being hideous and he had to stop playing a couple of times and ask them to leave. Unbelievable.

Toilet & Bowels 05.13.2007 09:07 AM

watson or prevost?

sarramkrop 05.13.2007 09:16 AM

I'm surprised that Watson didn't get glassed back. Throughout that gig there were people in there just annoying the fuck out of everyone with their silly shouts. I had brought with me a friend who was studying film and had never been to that sort of gig and he thought that everyone was mad.

Toilet & Bowels 05.13.2007 09:23 AM

watson was playing at the foundry or prevost?

sarramkrop 05.13.2007 09:23 AM

Prevost was playing.

Toilet & Bowels 05.13.2007 09:27 AM

i think prevost's a bit past it these days

sarramkrop 05.13.2007 09:32 AM

The gig wasn't all that (not the Prevost set, anyway) but still hecklers annoy me, no matter what. Especially since they didn't even have to pay for the ticket, so why the hell were they there?

Toilet & Bowels 05.13.2007 09:46 AM

it's the great question about all gigs in london really, why do pricks always turn up at gigs?

sarramkrop 05.13.2007 09:53 AM

If i had it my way, there would be violent bouncers in civil clothes amongst the crowd. Any invasion to the joy or pain that the punter would be going through, and bang, a smack in the mouth! Unfortunately such pricks seem to only understand the language of violence. Years and years of the music press telling them that they are entitled to an opinion is ruining it for other people who don't care much for expressing live on air opinions about music.

Glice 05.13.2007 10:37 AM

For me personally, a crowd of pricks is infinitely more fun to play to than a crowd of neuter eyeballs staring and not speaking at all.

sarramkrop 05.13.2007 10:55 AM

If the pricks were the exception, rather than the rule, i would say that you're right. A riotous crowd is one thing, but opinionated little indie people need being dealt with with force.

Toilet & Bowels 05.13.2007 11:20 AM

yeah, people who just stand still are (or worse, sit) during a performance of anything with a beat are just as bad

Glice 05.13.2007 11:23 AM

It's the problem I find - local gigs are usually full of bedwetters; London's full of pricks. There must be a happy medium.

I have to say the audiences up north, regardless of the type of music, generally know how to appreciate a gig without being knobs about it. The North will, as they say, rise again.

sarramkrop 05.13.2007 11:31 AM

Worst prick i've ever seen at a gig was again at The Foundry. He was sitting down with a copy of The Wire....staring at the cover!

That's:

WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG.

Toilet & Bowels 05.13.2007 11:37 AM

what about when konono no1 played that free show at the barbican and there were tonnes of people sitting including one bloke reading the sunday guardian and driniking Kaliber!
