Maybe I do, maybe I don't.

I can be very introverted in public. I mean, if somebody talks to me, I don't get all wierd or anything, I can hold a good conversation, and even throw in a couple witty remarks. But I am not very assertive and I rarely start conversations. And when I am buying CDs, I never start conversations with the dude at the store. A lot of people I know do, but I can't, I just feel awkward. I just look around until he puts it in a bag, say thanks, and leave. I am trying to work on being a little more social though...

i'm a little too outspoken for my own good really, i'm the person in yr group of friends that will tell you that yr breath is smelly/that top doesnt really suit you blah blah, but i'm also the person in yr group of friends that everyone comes to for advice, which is nice. i like being the person i am.

I like people like you. I don't like people who want to tell you something, but are too afraid they might offend you. The fact is, if my breath stinks, I would really like a friend to tell me, before I walk out into public and everybody is giving me wierd looks.

being social doesn't mean telling funny stories to the guy at record stores.

if you can maintain a decent conversation with someone, call yourself social.

Yeah, you are right. I think I tend to compare myself to my brother. While I would not consider him a role model (he's an admitted redneck who loves big trucks and as of recently is angry because John Deere doesn't make their own engines for their lawn mowers (?!?!?)) he does have the ability to go into any store and leave 15 minutes later being best friends with the people behind the counter.

sarramkrop 04.05.2007 08:47 AM

Just a thought. If you can really describe your own behaviour on an internet site, doesn't that mean that you are a self- conscious vanity fair atrocity to start with?

king_buzzo 04.05.2007 08:54 AM

Hyper.

I always think it's funny how it's the people who appear to spend every waking hour of their days on the internet are the first to point these things out. Sometimes in order to fix something about yourself that you would like to fix, you have to identify it first, and writing it out makes you think about it. Now I'm not saying that an internet message board is the best place to do this, but come on, who are you to talk?

gmku 04.05.2007 09:18 AM

Introverted, reserved. Not sure if I'm shy so much as quiet. But I'm more outgoing with friends and people I know at least a little. In a new situation, or meeting a group of new people, I'm not terribly uncomfortable or anxious around people, I'm just not as outgoing or vociferous as the rest of the group until I feel "settled in," if that makes sense.

floatingslowly 04.05.2007 09:28 AM

I was once told that I'm weird by a person with authority in the matter.

personally, I think weirdness is an art form. too little and you are just "odd", too much and you are "strange", or go even further and you become "creepy".

it's a fine line to walk.

I think I might be too nice sometimes. I tend to put others before me any chance I get, but these favors are rarely reciprocated. and despite what I'm sure many here might think, I'm not really an asshole. I just play one on the internet.

same...
but whatever, i do it cause it makes ME feel good
you know?

gmku 04.05.2007 09:39 AM

Yeah, in real life, I try to act nicer than the assholes around me. And there are a lot of them. It does no good to stoop to their level.
