As a journalist, he was responsible for me liking Sonic Youth, Butthole Surfers, Big Black & many other American bands you hardly heard about in the UK in the early 80's.

Isn't that the Matt Groening compiled cd that came out a few years ago and there was a series of them with sleeves all designed by the great Savage Pencil?

Savage Pencil is great. He was a complete cock when I tried to talk to him though. Just a total, total twat.

I was the other (first) person that voted the debut.

It was a series of CD's, but this one was actually compiled by Savage Pencil.

Pookie 09.07.2006 11:00 AM

Yes I do, and a lovely little thing it is too.

porkmarras 09.07.2006 11:01 AM

The only thing that i remember about that Groening one is that it had,i think,Royal Trux on it.

The debut is great. Strange Days is like the debut only slightly more psychedelic, and darker. Plus I love that cover--the Doors appear only in that poster in the background.

krastian 09.07.2006 02:36 PM

It's all about Strange Days for me.....The Doors have been one of my favorite bands since I was a child and fell in love with music. I love everything and have a buttload of boots.

gmku 09.07.2006 02:55 PM

I've been wondering about Waiting for the Sun. Haven't heard it, wondering if it's worth adding to the collection. Seems to create some division of opinion among Doors fans.

krastian 09.07.2006 03:12 PM

Oh hell yeah man, get it ASAP....Love Street! Summer's Almost Gone! Yes, the River Knows! Not to Touch the Earth! YES YES YES!!!!

kingcoffee 09.07.2006 03:21 PM

I fuckin love the Doors!!! I used to get stoned and listen to them all the time. Ah, the good ol' days.

gmku 09.07.2006 03:43 PM

Welp, those last two endorsements are good enough fer me, then!

Cantankerous 09.07.2006 03:44 PM

no!

Iain 09.07.2006 03:47 PM

Also, NO! Emphatically. A handful of good songs. Mostly utter cock!

atari 2600 09.07.2006 03:47 PM

Not to Touch the Earth is a kickin' tune. Hello, I Love You, Spanish Caravan, The Unknown Soldier & Five to One are very good ones on that record as well.

The Soft Parade is the one that's less of a must if one is prioritizing; it's probably their weakest.

Morrison Hotel is noticeably absent from the poll.
