Thanks for alerting me to the Actress preview, sounds great! I found that you can also see the track listing and preview samples from all songs on the Coming Apart album on I -Tunes. A couple of interesting sounding longer songs as well as more 'usual' length songs like 'Actress'. Really looking forward to this album release in a few weeks time……..

The pre-orders shipped today!

Shit. Sounding real good. I didn't even bother to buy Lee's album and Chelsea Light Moving have a few quite good songs. But this is the real deal, definitely the most interesting post-SY project thus far.

God. The Last Mistress rocks. Interesting track title as well, incidentally, with lyrics about territorial markings.

jennthebenn 09.03.2013 05:07 PM

This is as great as I wanted it to be.

That Huffington interview was shit though.
Such boring questions

Genteel Death 09.04.2013 07:12 AM

I liked it a lot after giving it a couple of listens last night. The use of feedback on ''I Can Only Think of You In Abstract'' is a great opener for the album and there are some excellent ideas all over the place. I'm not 100% fond of Kim's vocals but then again I have never been. They suit the various atmospheres on the record and I am quite happy for that. This is the only SY-related release since ''The Eternal'' I know I will listen to over and over again.

Seems that interviewers get too intimidated to ask Kim good questions. That, or every interviewer is a dunderhead.

After a couple more run-throughs, "Last Mistress" is the stand-out track. There are some moments on the album that put me in the "A Thousand Leaves" state of mind, which is always a plus.

I need to hit the record store as soon as I get my turntable back!

Totally agree Jenn, as soon as I first heard it Last Mistress was a complete standout for me, and I also get what you mean about the A Thousand Leaves vibe, something about Kim's guitar playing which is a lot freer than Lee's or Thurston's in some ways...

I did try to stream the album but it kept pausing, I've now decided to wait and hear it when I receive the vinyl. I'm sure it's going to be one of my best albums this year.

it did that with me too but reloading the page helped.

SonicBebs 09.05.2013 01:03 AM

I'm gonna wait too

Body/Head next week
Jim O'Rourke this week
Yoko Ono in 2 weeks

Turning out to be a big year

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 09.05.2013 01:15 AM

To SonicBebs, that is old school. I don't wait anymore, I don't always rush to get a new album, but I generally catch the stream when its "leaked" or in more legitimate instances "previewed". I can't help it, I come from the gutter and if it is even remotely shady it somehow always attracts my interest, even if its streamed by the band and perfectly legit, it somehow still feels slightly pirated ;)

The album is so-so.
