The Donnas are so mainstream, they have an edge to them.

Everyneurotic 04.23.2008 07:33 PM

the edge of suckiness or mediocrity?

✌➬ 04.23.2008 07:40 PM

In the underground, the old guys are cool. I like the fact that the older we get the more we can rock."

Avril Lavigne calling herself Punk is like a 2008 American tourist going to the Europe for the first time thinking they themselves have liberated the continent from

the Nazis. I used to despise Avril and her image machine but when I heard her speak in an interview I just realised that she has the mentality of a 17 year old...

Thurston can indeed rock out with the best of them but sadly enough it is a image/youth dominated pop world.

Rob Instigator 04.24.2008 02:56 PM

how "punk" can avril lavigne be? she is canadian.

Good point Rob. But really no one is punk nowadays. In England in the seventies it was a different situation. Mass unempolyment, class division, racial division & no future.

I am sure late 60's Detroit & New York was the same.

Now all the punks are at malls.

✌➬ 04.24.2008 03:17 PM

Punk is dead.

RanaldoNecro 04.24.2008 03:19 PM

I have to agree with Jonh Lydon, that punk was an isolated spit in the face, a brief flicker.

Some bands including SY have captured the spirit & energy of punk IMO

that sounds familiar...wait until the troops come back from Iraq...

I would add to the above a working class that was still aware of its working class status.
