This type of treatment sounds more like modern alternate neurological therapies than classic chiro

Chiropractic neurology (CN) is brain-based chiropractic care.
•CN is an advanced branch of chiropractic care that requires more than 300 hours of postgraduate neurological course work and a minimum grade of 80 percent on the board examination to achieve the status of Diplomate in the American Chiropractic Board of Neurology (DACBN).
•CN incorporates similar training to medical neurology but differs in application, treatment and therapies, using noninvasive, nonsurgical and non-pharmacological approaches to conditions.

oh wait, look, it is. They've taken modern neurological and autism research and common holistic techniques and renamed it 'neurological chiro'. There you go.

you guys have fun with all of your prescriptions, and all of the side effects.

i'm just especially tickled by phoenix, because she's vegan, right? isn't she all "let's protect the earth and do things naturally, and if our kids can't pronounce words properly, well Ritalin will surely do the trick".

you guys are fuckwads, goodnight.

phoenix 08.26.2009 03:02 AM

and what's your point? there are many branches of chiro, yes.

as i've said many times, i am familiar with/can vouch for Activator... which is why i was unsure if MS and autism could be treated.

apparently now it can.

I completely disagree with you over all of this but I really don't have much more energy or want to keep posting back and forth over it because it's really fruitless. *I* know what I've seen be beneficial and not so, there you go. Probably the same for you to a certain extent.

I'm going out now. sweet dreams :)

Satan 08.26.2009 03:53 AM

fruitless?

fruitcake more like.

phoenix 08.26.2009 03:55 AM

this thread is depressing.

...But because this thread is depressing, my life doesn't have to be!

pbradley 08.26.2009 04:17 AM

I think this thread proves its own thesis.

Many cases of sciatica are treated with different modalities. Evidence of effectiveness for these measures are however limited.[8] Some of these measures include:
Anti-inflammatory medications (e.g. NSAIDs or oral steroids though NSAIDs are no more effective than a placebo for acute sciatica. [9]
Acetaminophen: limited evidence
Narcotics: often used if severe pain
Physical therapy / Stretching exercises: no evidence of improving pain or function
Epidural steroid injects: no long term improvements in outcomes but some short term benefits
Non-surgical spinal decompression
Massage Therapy: little support
Chiropractic: no benefit has been found over concerative treatment

My gf has pretty severe sciatica and can't afford to go to a doctor. It's pretty fucking terrible. She was a competitive martial artist for 12 years (second degree black belt, former world rankings in her division) and if anybody knows about stretching/non-western medicine it's her. She could fucking teach a course on that stuff. She saw a physical therapist a couple of times while she was still on a college insurance plan and it was totally ineffective. Stretching just has not cut it. Since she can't afford painkillers, she pretty much can't do any physical activity which is extremely depressing for her, being as only a few years ago she more fit than any of us.
