anyone else ever noticed that John Mayer's "Waiting On The World To Change" sounds a helluva lot like "What's Up Fatlip"?

noisereductions 11.02.2012 10:01 PM

fuck y'all leaving me alone tonight. It's all golden age tonight. Common, Redman, Keith Murray, Lords of teh Underground, whatever. It's all old skool t'nite.

i like louder, but fuck off with that Kanye SHIT!!!

Cruel Summer isn't even a Kanye album. 4 outta 5 solo albums he made shit on pretty much every pop artist in the last 10 years, so shut the fuck up dude.

sorry man i was too high to post, lol. did you hear the new Earl song? he's on a new level lyrically. i'm so excited for his next album.

listening to some of the oldskool stuff you posted. really good as always.

louder 11.03.2012 08:47 AM

dunno if i ever bother to mention it in my posts but NR's tastes are much different than mine.

honestly Wayne, Kanye, Jeezy, Drake & Kendrick are probably in my top 10. i'd be a liar if i said otherwise.

everybody here hates Drake but i think he's brilliant. i don't care about his lyrics, i listen to him for melodies and atmosphere.

i fucking love trap music in general. Juicy J is the shit. so is Gucci Mane.
i also listen to 90's southern rap shit like Three 6, OutKast & Hot Boys all the time.

when it comes to up and coming rappers i really really like Schoolboy, ASAP Rocky, Big K.R.I.T, Freddie Gibbs, Chief Keef & Gunplay.

of course i try to keep it diverse and listen to all kinds of music.

but i don't care what other people think about the music in my iPod, am not a fucking hipster.

noisereductions 11.03.2012 09:09 AM

I like Drake, but don't love him. I thought Thank Me Later was excellent, but didn't care as much for Take Care.

Jeezy is awesome... but I don't really follow him too closely.

I'm with you on trap music. I think where we differ is a lot of newer stuff. Like I've never even listened to any of those dudes you mentioned beyond Big KRIT.

louder 11.03.2012 09:13 AM

true. and of course we both love the classic 90's shit like 2Pac, Snoop/Dre, Wu-Tang, Quest Tribe, etc, etc.

louder 11.03.2012 09:25 AM

Take Care was my fav album last year. i'm a big fan anyway, i also love So Far Gone. a bunch of my fav Drake songs aren't on any of his albums.

for instance, all the songs he dropped prior to Take Care that didn't even make it to the album.

louder 11.03.2012 09:43 AM

not rap but Crystal Castles III is one of my most anticipated albums atm.

"I didn't cry when Pac died... but I probably will when Hov does" is one of the most honest lyrics I've ever heard in a hip hop song.

yeah. Check The Technique is excellent. It's like essays about the making of 30 or so classic albums. I loved Dirty South which is about the history of southern hip hop in all its facets. I've read a lot of others (Jay-Z's Decoded, Born to Hold Mics (about Illmatic), the Wu-Tang Bible, etc) but those 2 are dedfinitely ones that stand out to me most.
