i love nosaj thing's album so much. most of you would probably hate it but i think it ultra addictive. cheap glitch hop that grooves a lot. fucking rad if you ask me

SYRFox 06.19.2009 12:07 PM

by the way, i couldn't set myself for a top 10, so here is a list of everything (i think) i've listened to this year: (plus ratings)

the new six organs is on soulseek but i think i wana wait till the vinyl comes out, casny's playing is just too pure to be diluted to mp3 format i think

shadow ring-live review (actually got this back at no fun, just started heavily listening to it now, top 15 bands ever for sure)
ashnav-early years tape muck 94-97'
cromagnon-cave rock (can you say awesome!?!?! i didnt think they did anything other than 'orgasm')

also, here are some that surprised me that they were god:
kreator-hordes of chaos (no pleasure to kill obviously)
brutal truth-evolution through evolution

im listening to amen dunes now rick, they are rad

If you guys haven't checked out the new Saxon Shore album and you're big into post-rock, do so immediately.

batreleaser 06.22.2009 08:41 AM

oh, i forgot to mention this, yellow tears 'dont cry' vinyl is the best noise recod ive heard this year, just absolutely shrieking blackened dada-noise fuckery. not to mention thier performnce at no fun was my favorite of the whole weekend. Dom Fernow sold me this record actually at the show. The dudes are also in Halflings and the band is kinda similar but Halflings is almost a noise-grind band like Two Dead Sluts: One good Fuck, and Yellow Tears is more strictly experimental.

Yes! Gives me the shivers. I really hope more people start talking about them.

WHOREOHSCOPE 06.29.2009 01:05 AM

batreleaser 06.29.2009 07:12 AM

amen dunes is waaaay different/better than i thought they'd be, i was sure by the name they'd be more new age drone not not fun shit, instead i get dirty and broken cough syrup infused whiskey no fi psych boogie rock jams. really great.

six organs of admittance - luminous night
robedoor - exorcist blues
zs - music for modern white
isengrind - journey of the 7 stars

atsonicpark 07.28.2009 07:42 PM

I'm really excited for the new vivian girls.

I uploaded their single, "moped girls" (oop I am pretty sure):

sun araw and ducktails and all that stuff really pisses me off.

atsonicpark 07.29.2009 10:34 PM

Haha, why does it piss you off?

Ducktails is pretty overrated, to me. It's not bad, and some of it is actually awesome (the more drawn-out stuff). But as a whole, I'm not sold.

Sun Araw, on the other hand, is quite awesome. That Predator Vision split (Predator Vision's side is way better, though) is amazing.

this album has become one of my favorites of the year. its real simple but it just really grabbed me.
its an album by israeli guitarist yair yona. its VERY influenced by john fahey and basho and he is very aware of that. but it is still an icredibly good "american primitive" album, that has a lot of self awareness.
i was priviliged enough to ionterview him for the radioo two days ago and it aired yesterday.
anyhoo he has put up his entire album for Download. although its nicer if one was to buy it...
