Were those reactions coming from somebody on this forum? I wouldn't be surprised.

maybe its sad, i dont know. its most def. true though.

your ability to continually miss the point of what people say as a means to avoid your arguements being discredited only serves to make you look increasingly stupid. just thought i'd let you know.

I dunno, Live Through This doesn't really appeal to me. I get "pretty and brutal" from Pretty on the Inside. I mean, that part in "Mrs. Jones" is sooo purty.

the guitar sound on retard girl especially but also on the other early shit sounds so dirty and nasty and awesome. & there are few people who sing with such genuine rage.

I have genuinely never heard a better guitar sound than on that album. "Turpentine" especially.. the opening notes are just so sick and wrong.

Listening to any of their early stuff while high is incredibly disturbing, by the way. It's a really creepy feeling.

My memory of it is that it was more an attempt to find some kind of an alternative to it. It rejected ideas like technique, gear fetish and and other coventions that were staples of the mainstream rock world, and had begun to find their way into alternative rock via bands like dinosaur. A lot of those ideas were borrowed from the post-punk/c86 era but, as secondhand and maybe even naive as those ideas may have been, they were far more exciting than merely campaigning for women to be taken seriously while rocking out during guitar solos. Vixen had already sort of done that.

yeah, it's not like a rock version of hollywood feminism which means women get to maim and kill on screen as much as men do.

Both of you so totally got it down. Thank you so much for articulating this point so well. Seriously. I completely agree with both of you. I wish you could see how big the smile of my face is right now.

I'd say this one but you'd probably try even harder.

You'll probably say something about others and myself trying to do the same thing...the difference is that we actually engaged with the discussion at hand without changing the topic/disregarding the points that were made or resulting to banal/inappropriate gestures. Once again, I seriously do hope that this is only an online persona....

You know man, influence is a really rad phenomenon. I'm not the only person who has been influenced by stuff of the past. And Girls Rock Camp is a direct riot grrrl influence....in 2009.

But yes...I am, in fact, proud that am a current participant and occasional leader in a happening feminist community....in the real-o-sphere. One where we do more than scream and jump around obnoxiously. And I'm not the only person involved who lists riot grrrl as an influence.

For yr sake....I believe I speak for others when I graciously ask you to stop. At this point yr arguments have failed to make any logical sense since you are refusing to actually engage with any topic. All yr trying to do is to be a jerk.

But if you insist on fighting...the lameness is honestly kind of assuming.

And you were how old when Funhouse came out?

Toilet & Bowels 08.21.2009 06:27 AM

so here's a conundrum, if someone was to beat you in the head with a hammer how many blows would it take to bash some sense into you? or would it leave you retarded, and if so would anyone be able to tell the difference? or would smashing your head with a hammer just kill you? and if it did kill you would that be preferable?
