sure but— what was the first one? or the first 2 whatever

razor-sharp horror comedy how?

i watched them both last year and they were a borefest

maybe in 1980-something they were better but i don’t know—much rather watch caddyshack

ps- ive never seen bridesmaids. don’t plan to either.

i should add that there are many “great” cultural products of the 80s that i have never enjoyed: michael jackson, madonna, ronald reagan, lady diana, back to the future, the breakfast club, top gun, e.t., rambo, gremlins, bon jovi, journey, hall & oates, etc

I do agree that the 2nd is underappreciated, but I can wholly see why the first one is still held in much higher regard.

the only think i can remember about the old ones is the music cuz the movies were so dull. the music is like the cyst of a brain parasite that refuses to die. it’s “good”in that sense.

ok no, the premise that the former heroes are now doing childrens parties is great and funny and correct. i did enjoy that. but after that it’s just more nonsense.

Wow man. Did you, like, not grow up in the ‘80s or something?

The Ghostbusters movies are dumb and kinda bad, but also hilarious and awesome. Not unlike Back to the Future.

If all you can remember is the music, maybe re-watch one of those days. At least the first one.

I think I have more fun watching the second, but the first is definitely THE Ghostbusters movie. Second has a lot to love.

“Where exactly are you from?”
“Ze upper-Vest Side.”

Bahahah!

i didnt see ghostbusters when it came out

but i saw star wars as a kid and now hate it too—i don’t always like now what i liked as a kid—like shitty candy

but scooby-doo, stupidest cartoon ever, i’ve always hated

Desperately Seeking Susan

Still has a certain period charm but Madonna is insufferable. I get that she's playing an unlikeable character but a little charisma would've gone a long way. Rosanna Arquette is, of course, eternally lovely.

maybe, but when i actually watched the 80s stuff it it was a huge letdown, sorta like when i used to hear all about the amazing snickers bar but upon actually eating it was an oversweet piece of shit goo. or lucky charms cereal... your childhood sucks! (not yours personally— just saying it to america).

whereas with the new version, i expected shit already , AND indeed found shit, but laughed a couple of times (thanks, chicken lady).

but anyway i’ll stop with that because they’re all a waste of time ha ha.

I can't think of a single thing from my childhood that I returned to and thought, "That's so much BETTER than I remembered!"

Like, nothing.

tw2113 11.27.2017 11:53 AM

I mostly finally get jokes and details better as an adult than when I was a kid. For example, a drunk politician character from "An American Tail"

Yeah.

Man, Batman ‘89 and Batman Returns like, MADE my childhood. When I went back and watched them in my twenties, I was thoroughly disappointed that the storylines form both films was paper thin, and that it was all style (good style, for the era) and literally no substance. Still great to look at though. Actually, not so much in that case.. both moved look like snow-covered shit compared to Nolan’s gorgeous reboots, but whatever.

That Hitlery Penguin was super fucked up.

“I’m gonna steal all of your children and kill them!”

Cool plot bro.

o man, i watched that last year for the first time ever and it was awesome. cheesy-awesome, but awesome. it embraced its ridiculousness fully and was very entertaining. so good, even the horrible song was appropriate. A+++ will watch again.

Not Poltergeist the movie with actual ghost rape that you're thinking of is The Entity from 1983.

There’s basically a ghost rape in Ghostbusters. “I am Zule, fuck me” or something like that. Not a full rape maybe, but suggestive enough.

Also, Evil Dead = THE ghost rape.

All rape is terrible of course, but... just sayin’

Nope, I know the scene, Dan Akroyd thought it would be funny for us to basically see Ray get a blowjob from a ghost, and since its one of the few scenes where we don't actually see a ghost onscreen, who's to say that ghost was female, huh Dan? Its a pretty dumb scene, is there a scene in the new one where a ghost is pleasuring one of them? I imagine not. lol
