Southern Lord's packaging in general is great. Them and Constellation are my favorites, along with Torche's label, who go all out with the clear CD's, double color records that come in 6 flavors, full color inserts, etc...

Latest additions to my LP collection:
Hair Police - Constantly Terrified
The White Mice - Blasstphlegmeice
Excepter - Self Destruction
Stephen Malkmus - Real Emotional Trash 10''

No, not Doom -- DOOM. meaning MF Doom, who now goes by DOOM (all caps).

I recently discovered the magic of discogs marketplace.

greedrex 03.31.2009 05:03 AM

^^^yeah some pretty good deals up there.

noisereductions 03.31.2009 07:15 AM

really? Usually I find the prices on discogs to be kind of insane. Maybe it just happened to be the stuff I was browsing.

it's just another ebay kind of thing but it's a lot looser in that you sort everything out yourself and yr seller/buyer direct, which is good and bad at the same time. I scored pretty good combined shipping stuff on there.

And splurged and preordered this on vinyl at my local record store:

(I still get the buy early get it now)

and not necessarily an album but I picked up this used on dvd:

Savage Clone 04.05.2009 03:57 PM

I worked the local bi-monthly record convention yesterday, and picked up the early 80s or late 70s Antilles Records pressing of "An Electric Storm" by The White Noise, which I have always wanted to have on vinyl. I can in no way afford the 1969 pink-label UK Island original, so this was a nicely affordable score.

Death & the Maiden 04.05.2009 07:34 PM

Sigh - Imaginary Sonicscape

batreleaser 04.05.2009 08:19 PM

sunday is more and more my annual get too stoned and torture myself with fucked up music, right now its torturing nurse, earlier was origami genitalia, the amazing aufogheban album on holy mountain from last year, rita/impregnable split, three god willing casettes, some newton cassettes, blah blah. the least loud and strage thing was proably stiv bators' 'disconnected' ad 25 suaves first album, by no means easy listening.

Savage Clone 04.05.2009 08:39 PM

Origami Genitalia! Nice to see them get a mention. My best friend in the world is half of that duo, and Emil (the other half) is also a good guy. Love that music.

batreleaser 04.05.2009 09:41 PM

yeah, i know more them more because of Emil, hes in Cock ESP and Wrong and the Living Trash and prolly more of the great junk noise bands of the 90s diy noise scene. Cock Esp are probably still a little underappreciated. I mean, everyone who knows them ranks them where they belong; in the best noise of all time category. But still, very few people even know them.

Right now its Pauline Oliveros and Reynols-Pauline in the Arm of Reynols. Not sure if I like it, it sounds like an Oliveros record, I dont hear the spastc psychedelic trial noise of Reynols anywhere. Just a wierrrdddd fucking jam.

batreleaser 04.05.2009 09:46 PM

holy shit, never mind, reynols sound is coming in a big way, spastic waves of electronic sheets of sound and static going in every direction and atonal beats banging around; all while Pauline keeps a super minima ocean-sound rhythm in the background. Total next level psychedelia.

Rob Instigator 04.06.2009 09:33 AM

This sunday a DJ in Houston held a huge sale to get rid of a bunch of his old hip hop/funk/reggae records. I went and got some choice shit. There was a lot of good stuff but DJ's are notorious for not taking care of their LP's so too many were scratched up all nastay.

Boogie Down Productions - By All Means Neccesary

The Roots - Illadelph Halflife (double lep)

Oukast - stankonia (orange double viny)

Gang Starr - mass Appeal

I also got the following 12" singles

tribe called quest - Check The Rhyme
de La Soul - Stakes Is High
a Treacherous Three 12"
some Guru 12"

and more

all for $40

noisereductions 04.06.2009 09:46 AM

^you have great taste in hip hop, Rob. ILLADELPH is probably my favorite Roots album. Well, DO YOU WANT MORE is. Maybe. Agh. Can't decide.
