Karen's moving out
Out into the sky
Karen trips on a cloud
Sets down with stars in her eyes
She's alone in a room
She's deep inside of her mind

Karen's leaving for the snow
Somewhere to somewhere... blind
Cuts at the lining of my soul
I was tethered to her for a time

Will she stay forever? Are we still together?
 (will she stay?)
Will she stay forever? Are we still together?
 (bedside.. flashlight.. bedside.. Karen stay)
Will she stay forever? Are we still together?
(bedside.. flashlight.. bedside.. will she stay?)
Will she stay forever? Are we still together?
(bedside.. flashlight.. bedside.. Karen stay..) (bedside..)

Karen, you're hanging on the line
Wrap your coat tight around
Karen, your eyes are on the prize
I'll catch you on the way down

Track length: 9:20

First Known Performance: 10/06/97
Last Known Performance:  07/02/99

NOTES:

  • Debuted instrumentally in late '97, first performed with vocals in Austin, TX on 3/19/98.
  • The album version has a strange ending... it cuts off abruptly at 8:27 (during one of the best musical passages on the album, in my opinion) and goes into an "SYR-esque" improv for 53 seconds.
  • Soundchecked during 2000 but not performed live.
  • Live version aired on 7/1/98 John Peel Session.
